She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Wimmer; one brother, Grady Lewis Sigmon; and three grandchildren. Mrs. Wimmer was the owner of Wimmer's Grocery. Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-laws, Estelle and Herbert Altice, Wirtz, Shirley and Glenn Handy, Ferrum, Gladys McPherson and fiance, Dean Haynes, Rocky Mount; six sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Judy Wimmer, Bassett, Glenn and Jeanette Wimmer, Rocky Mount, James and Becky Wimmer, Vernon Wimmer, Roger and Joan Wimmer, Lewis and Wanda Wimmer, all of Ferrum; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; ten stepgrandchildren; two sisters, Ocie Richardson, Ferrum, Myrtle Kahawjy, Richmond; one brother, Gail Sigmon, Ferrum. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 2 p.m. Sunday, with Rev. Bud Nichols officiating. Interment will follow in Pigg River Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. on June 21, 1997.³

Handy; as well as six brothers, Kenneth, Glenn, Vernon, James, Roger and Lewis Wimmer; two sisters, Gladys McPherson, Estelle Altice and their families; a very dear friend, Shelby Willis. A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday from the Cooper Family Cemetery with Dr. William Shively officiating. on September 26, 2000.⁴

     Glenn Allen Handy was buried at Benjamin Wade Cooper Family Cemetery, Rt. 806, 0.4 miles from Rt. 640, Six Mile Post Road, Callaway, Franklin Co., Virginia.³ He was born on October 15, 1945 at Virginia.^1,2 He married Shirley Ann Wimmer, daughter of Luther Andrew Wimmer and Roxie Elizabeth Sigmon, on August 25, 1972 at Ferrum, Franklin Co., Virginia.^4,2,5 Glenn Allen Handy died on September 7, 2009 at age 63.¹ He Glenn Allen Handy age 63 of Ferrum went to be with the Lord on Monday September 7, 2009. Mr. Handy was born October 15, 1945 a son of the late Ira and Lottie Handy. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Handy; a son, Michael David Handy and a brother, Donald Handy. Left to cherish his memory is a daughter, Michelle Thompson; son, Robert Handy; special grandson, Logan Thompson; brothers, Cecil and Kenneth Handy and a sister, Shelby Green. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5625, Plumbers and Steamfitters Local No. 10, Suwannee River Moose Lodge No. 325 and American Legion Post No. 91. Survivors include his wife, Helen C. Taylor of Fanning Springs; sons G. Stephen Taylor of Martinsville, Va., and George M. Taylor of Richmond, Va; daughters Doris Carroll of Richmond, Va., Faye LaPrade of Rocky Mount, Va., Janet Fitzgerald of Grottes, Va., Mary Sigmon of Rocky Mount, Linda Badgett of Louisa, Va., Karen Anderson of Louisa, Va., and Susan Hunsberger of Clifton, Va; 24 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. on November 8, 2002.⁴
