     Gladys Lillian Phillips was buried at Anderson Memorial Gardens, 640 Oliver Springs Highway, Clinton, Anderson Co., Tennessee.² She Gladys Lillian Phillips Reed - On Friday, March 13th, 2020, at the age of 88, Gladys succumbed to a brave four-year battle with cancer at her home in West Knoxville. She was a member of the Oliver Springs Church of Christ and someone that truly exemplified the Christian spirit to those who were around her. Her incredible faith in people and in the Lord never diminished throughout this journey. Gladys was an integral part of the Oak Ridge science and research community, maintaining a multifaceted career as a world-renowned radiation research photographer and graphic designer, actually being the first woman industrial photographer to be professionally listed in the state of Tennessee. She was a strong advocate for women?'?s rights and respect in the workplace and espoused those principles to other strong women that came in contact with her, always encouraging women to follow their dreams and make the world a better place. Kodak Films actually studied her pioneering film development process in the 1960s, which is now known as infrared photography. She began her esteemed career in 1955 with the UT-AEC and continued through the research labs' transitions to CARL, UT-DOE, Oak Ridge National Labs, and Associate Universities. Through the lens of her camera, she witnessed the first hydroponic plants and the beginning of the genetic modification of seeds as well as the first successful kidney and heart transplants ever performed on animals. She stood shoulder-to-shoulder with some of the greatest scientists in the world, documenting their experiments as they unfolded before her eyes in real time. Gladys was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband Ernest L. Reed, her parents Loma Coker Phillips and James Oscar Phillips, her brothers A.O. Phillips and Kenneth Phillips, and her sister Theda Phillips. She is survived by her daughter Deborah Hyatt (Lynn), her son Zane Reed (Jeanine), her daughter Sarah Smith (Oliver), her grandchildren Shane Miller, Shawnt?é ?Miller Whitaker, Candace Hyatt Bailey, Marc Reed, Bryan Reed, Jeff Reed, Olivia Smith, and Crosse Smith, and her great grandchildren Shana and Jake Miller, R.T. and Rylan Stansberry, Blade, Ivy, Aubree, and Ava Reed, and Zane Reed. The family would like to give special thanks to all those exceptional caregivers who so lovingly helped us through this difficult time: Kristen Amburn, Mary Lloyd, Amy Farr, and Wendy Thompson. We are forever grateful for their personal care, support, and warm friendship. She wanted to make sure they knew that they were not only her caregivers, but beloved members of her family that she loved dearly. We would also like to extend our deepest gratitude towards those medical professionals that helped lovingly sustain her quality of life: Dr. Susan Newman and her medical staff, including Scott, Megan, Sandra, and others at the University of Tennessee Cancer Institute.      Marvin Lavon Sowash was buried at Miller Cemetery, Middletown, Henry Co., Indiana.³ His Social Security Number was 311-03-1602.⁶ He married Ruth Irene Reeder, daughter of Henry Carlile "Hank" Reeder and Emma Lenva Philpott.⁷ Marvin Lavon Sowash was born on July 7, 1915 at Frankton, Madison Co., Indiana.^8,2,6,4,5 He and Ruth Irene Reeder were divorced on June 8, 1946.² Marvin Lavon Sowash died on November 12, 1985 at Charlotte Co., Florida, at age 70.^6,5

     Loraine G. Woody was buried at Niagara Falls Memorial Park, 5871 Military Road, Lewiston, Niagara Co., New York.^5,4 She was born on May 16, 1929 at Page, Fayette Co., West Virginia.⁶ As of July 19, 1951,her married name was Rhodes.² She married Charles Thomas Rhodes, son of Homer Franklin Rhodes and Vella Mae McClung, on July 19, 1951 at Niagara Co., New York.^1,2,4 Loraine G. Woody died on August 8, 1987 at Niagara Falls, Niagara Co., New York, at age 58.^5,4 She Funeral services will be conducted today for Loraine G. Rhodes, 58, of Rainbow Boulevard. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewiston. Mrs. Rhodes, a native of Oak Hill, W.Va., died Saturday (Aug. 8, 1987) after being stricken ill at home. She was pronounced dead on arrival at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. She had lived here since 1951. She was the widow of Charles T. Rhodes. Survivors include five daughters, Joyce Stevens of Binghamton, Patricia Cox, Grace Rhodes, Shelly Rhodes and Jane Rhodes; five sons, Jay of Clearwater, Fla., Kenneth of Arizona, Thomas, William and James; her mother, Grace Woody of Oak Hill, a brother, Clarency Woody of Jackson, N.J., and 12 grandchildren. on August 11, 1987.⁴

     Joyce Ann Rhodes was buried at Niagara Falls Memorial Park, 5871 Military Road, Lewiston, Niagara Co., New York.¹ Her married name was Stevens.³ She married Unknown Stevens.³ Joyce Ann Rhodes was born on June 13, 1954 at Niagara Falls, Niagara Co., New York.¹ She died on October 19, 2016 at Chenango, Broome Co., New York, at age 62.¹ She Joyce Ann Rhodes, 62, of Chenango, NY, passed away unexpectedly at her home on October 19, 2016. Joyce Ann was born in Niagara Falls, NY on June 13, 1954 and was the daughter of the late Charles and Loraine (Woody) Rhodes. Joyce Ann was a dedicated and extremely passionate employee of Bridgewater Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Binghamton, NY for many years. Joyce Ann enjoyed arts and crafts, gardening and loved animals. Joyce Ann is survived by four brothers and four sisters. Besides her parents she was predeceased by one brother and one sister. To honor and respect Joyce Ann's wishes, the family held a private service at Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery, Military Road, Lewiston, NY. on October 26, 2016.¹

Rhodes, 43, who had worked as a chef at Tommy Ryans at Prospect Point for the past five years, died Thursday (Aug. 12, 1999) in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center after apparently suffering a heart attack at home. He was born in Niagara Falls and was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School. Rhodes had worked at DiCamillo Bakery and for various local restaurants. He would often write letters to the editor of the Niagara Gazette regarding community events and local politics over the years. Survivors include his wife, the former Trina Rogers; a daughter, Carnisha; a son, Jovon; four brothers, Thomas of Nebraska, Kenneth of Germany and Jay and James, both of Dunedin, Fla; and five sisters, Joyce of Binghamton, Grace of Houston, Shelly, Patricia and Jane. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewiston. on August 15, 1999.²
