Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 29, 2002 at Jacksonville Cemetery, with Rev. Emory Tarpley officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the Maberry Funeral Home, Floyd. In lieu of memorials, please arrange a visit to someone in a nursing home or an elderly person. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Radford Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and her caretakers, including Mrs. Bernice Peterman, for their loving care. on June 27, 2002.4

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Sheppard Swepston, at home; a daughter, Mrs. Joan Stevens, Beckley; four brothers, Herb and Bill, both of Huntington, Fred, Waynesboro, Va., and Frank, Beckley; four sisters, Mrs. Virginia Lowe, Forest Hill, Mrs. Gladys Caldwell, Hinton, Mrs. Grace Ann Bennett, Taicott, and Mrs. Alma Fleshman, Mount Vernon, Wash., and one granddaughter. Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. C.H. Martin at 1 p.m. Monday at the Melton Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow in the New Hope Cemetery at Marie. Friends may call at the funeral home fron 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today. Neighbors will serve as pallbearers. on September 14, 1975.7

She had been a resident of Princeton since 1995 moving here from Forest Hill. In addition to her parents, her husband, Edward C. "Bud" Lowe; one sister, Gladys Caldwell; and five brothers, Roy Swepston, Fred Swepston, Frank Swepston, Donald Swepston and Herbert Swepston preceded her in death. Survivors include one son, Edward C. Lowe Jr. and wife Nilda of Princeton; two grandchildren, James Lowe and wife Barbara of Salt Lake City, Utah and Cynthia "Shelly" Wimmer and husband Steve of Charlotte, N.C; four great-grandchildren, Megan Wimmer, Bradley Wimmer, Wendy Lowe and Aleena Lowe; one brother, Bill J. She is survived by 7 grandchildren Sonja (Bob) Asbury, Tinja (Randy) Wyman, Greta (Al) Oosterhof, Elsa (Dan) Hulslander, Becki (Jeff) Marks, Dayna (John) Federick, Drew (Alison) Fleshman. She is also survived by her special niece Kyra McCormill, nineteen great-grandchildren, and twenty great-great-grandchildren. A private family inurnment was held at Hawthorne Memorial Park. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 16, 2016, 2:00 pm at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1515 E College Way. Donation maybe made to the Cancer Care Alliance, Mount Vernon or Emmanuel Baptist Church. Alma was a devoted Christian and attended Emmanuel Baptist Church for over 50+ years. She loved her friends, family and church and was deeply loved in return. on January 6, 2016.4

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Frances Bennett Swepston; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marsha and Kurt McAtee of Columbus, Ohio, and Kyra and Michael McCormill of Florence, Ky; a daughter-in-law, Deborah Hinkle Swepston of Huntington; eight grandchildren, Shane Ferrell, Amanda Hacking and her husband Russell, Angela Swepston, Luke and Trey Damron, Heather Walton and her husband Matt, Dustin McCormill and his wife Kim, and Jessica McCormill; three great-grandchildren, Triston, Zoe and Challen; two sisters, Alma Fleshman of Mount Vernon, Wash. and Grace Ann Bennett of Talcott, W.Va; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to Highlawn United Methodist Church or to Hospice of Huntington.
