Janet Elizabeth Horton Janet Elizabeth Horton Sigmon, 62, of Princeton died Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at Princeton Community Hospital. Born April 16, 1953 in Pulaski, VA she was the daughter of the late Richard Pierce Horton, Sr. & Bonnie Davis Horton. Janet was a member of the Memorial Church of Christ in Princeton for 33 years. Janet worked most of her life including Coleman's Furniture and Lee Jeans both in Pulaski and cleaned houses for many people over an 18 year period. She last worked at GlenWood Park Retirement Village where she served as an Environmentalist and loved her work and cared deeply for those she worked with and especially the residents. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Jimmy, Steven, Larry and Richard (Dickie), Jr. and her step-mother, Nancy Davis Horton. Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 35 years, Dennis Sigmon; her daughter, Treva Bivens Weise of Vale, NC; granddaughters, Breonna Pitzer (with a great-grandchild due in February) and Alexus Weise all of the home; two brothers, Anthony (Tony) Horton of Pulaski, VA and David Horton & significant other, Missy of Lexington, KY; three sisters, Faye Akers of Dublin, VA, Linda Blevins & husband, Roy of Pulaski, VA and Debbie Holbrook & husband, Charlie of Roanoke, VA; special niece, Brittany Bradford of Roanoke, VA and several other nieces and nephews and her special four-legged friend which Janet called her therapy dog, Alley Oops.3 She was born on April 16, 1953 at Pulaski, Pulaski Co., Virginia.1,2,3 As of April 16, 1980,her married name was Sigmon.1 She married Dennis Ray Sigmon, son of George Woodrow "Woody" Sigmon and Hettie Irene Sigmon, on April 16, 1980 at Pearisburg, Giles Co., Virginia.1,3 Janet Elizabeth Horton died on August 11, 2015 at Princeton, Mercer Co., West Virginia, at age 62.3

She was a former employee of the G.C. Murphy's Store in Welch, W.Va. and also J.C. Penney in Welch. She was a homemaker, a nursing home volunteer, a volunteer at Welch Elementary School, and a Sunday School Teacher. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Welch, W.Va. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She had been a resident of Carswell all her life. Other than her father, she was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Sherry Lynn Anderson. She leaves to cherish her memory: Her husband of 62 years, Charles "Pete" Anderson of the home; her mother, Lettie Mae Snow Sigmon of Carswell, W.Va; her daughter, Cathy Forrest of Welch, W.Va; granddaughter, Melissa Forrest of Welch, W.Va; two sisters, Jean Doss of Carswell, W.Va., Carol Wilson and husband Bob of Colonial Heights, Va; three brothers, Everett Sigmon and wife Connie of Carswell, W.Va., Leland Sigmon and wife Betty of Roanoke, Va., Kenneth Sigmon and wife Brenda of Pineville, W.Va; several nieces and nephews. Burial will follow at the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton, W.Va. Serving as pallbearers will be Bobby Smith, Frankie Dillon, Glen McCoy, Tommy Brown, and Mark Doss. on June 2, 2013.5

He retired after 40 years of service with Appalachian Power Company and was a member of the Pineville First United Methodist Church. He loved bowling with his longtime friend, Sherman Taylor, playing cards with his best friends, Sharon and P.H. Calfee and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Ken loved his church and church family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Irene Anderson and brothers-in-law, Charles “Pete” Anderson and Earl P. Doss. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 49 years, Brenda Sigmon; two daughters, Lisa Duty and her husband, Scott of Princeton; and Lori Salmons and her husband, Robert of Crab Orchard; granddaughter, Paige Blankenship and two grandsons, Cody Blankenship and Sean Salmons. He is also survived by two brothers; Everett T. Sigmon, Jr. and wife Connie of Carswell and Leland Sigmon and wife, Betty of Roanoke; two sisters, Jean Doss of Carswell and Carol Wilson of Colonial Heights, VA and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Ken also dearly loved his extended family, Nancy and Dean Stover; Patty and Pat Wyatt and Emily and Bud Mullins. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Wyoming County Honor Guard. on July 19, 2015.3
