Bernard Daniel Godfrey Jr.1,2,3,4,5,6

M, b. January 5, 1936, d. July 4, 2017
Bernard Daniel Godfrey Jr. Bernard Daniel “Bud” Godfrey Jr., 81, passed away quietly on July 4, 2017, attended by his wife. The interment of his earthly remains will be at a later date in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Please join his family and friends in celebrating the man they knew as husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. Bud Godfrey is survived by his wife of 42 years, Patricia Louise Godfrey; his children, Donna, Darrin, Susan, and Sharrie Godfrey, and John Robertson; 8 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother Eva Ruth; father Bernard Daniel Godfrey, and his sister. A native of West Virginia, Bud was a state Golden Gloves Boxing Champion. Following graduation from McAlpin High School, Bud Godfrey left his humble beginnings in a small mining town to serve his country as a member of the US Army’s 82nd Airborne Division. At age 67, Bud relived his love for parachuting on Father’s Day 2003. Bud retired from JI Case International after 27 years as a machinist, and immediately returned to work as a driver for Metrolink where he retired after 8 years of service. Bud leaves a void in our lives that will never be filled. He has always been a man of kindness, generosity, and boundless love. The rough, tough-guy exterior quickly gave way to the biggest heart. As a father, the best anyone could ask for. As a husband, Bud set a gold standard. His wife, Patricia, was at his side throughout his 7 year struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia. His passing ends his struggle with that terrible disease. The family would like to acknowledge his niece and nephew Victoria and David White, along with their children Christina and Tyler, for their steadfast support and love.4 He was buried at Greenview Memorial Gardens, 1201 Avenue of the Cities, East Moline, Rock Island Co., Illinois.4 He and Rosie Lee Daniels were divorced.4 Bernard Daniel Godfrey Jr. was born on January 5, 1936 at McComas, Mercer Co., West Virginia.3,5,6 He married Rosie Lee Daniels, daughter of Ray Junior Daniel and Susan Jane "Susie" Terry, on June 16, 1958 at Sophia, Raleigh Co., West Virginia.1,2,3 Bernard Daniel Godfrey Jr. died on July 4, 2017 at East Moline, Rock Island Co., Illinois, at age 81.4,6
