     Larry David Miles was buried at Whitehead Joines Cemetery, Whitehead, Alleghany Co., North Carolina.4 He Larry David Miles, 79, of Vinton, Virginia, called home on December 20, 2025. Born in Whitehead, North Carolina on July 23, 1946, Larry was the son of the late John Raymond Miles Jr. and Earlene Joines Miles. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Harold Dean Miles, and his daughter, Jennifer Lynn Miles. He is survived by his son, Matthew David Miles; grandchildren, Dylan Miles and Chase Miles; sister, Wanda Miles Shaw and husband Ray; brother, John Martin “Marty” Miles and wife Charlotte; sister-in-law, Linda Nicholson Miles; and numerous nieces and nephews. Larry proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1966 to 1972. Following his military service, he worked for Appalachian Power Company, where he was known as a dependable and hardworking employee. He also devoted many years as an active volunteer with the Vinton Fire Department, serving faithfully until disability, after which he was honored as an honorary fireman. His commitment to service extended beyond emergency response—he spent many years delivering Christmas gifts to families in need and cooking community breakfasts alongside his fellow firefighters. Larry especially loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, creating memories that will be treasured for generations. He also enjoyed bowling and was a longtime bowling league member. He was an active member of Lynn Haven Baptist Church, where he professed his faith in Jesus Christ. He often shared his salvation story and spoke openly with coworkers and friends about his personal relationship with Christ. Burial will take place at Whitehead Joines Cemetery in Whitehead, North Carolina. Larry will be remembered for his unwavering faith, dedication to service, and love for his family and community. The family extends special thanks to the staff of Davis and McDaniel Veterans Care Center in Salem, Virginia, and to Dr. Keeley, whose compassionate care was a blessing to Larry and previously to his daughter, Jennifer.4 He was born on July 23, 1946 at Whitehead, Alleghany Co., North Carolina.1,3,4 He married Vickie Lynn Saunders, daughter of Hubert Everette Saunders and Cornelia Rebecca Boulding, on June 5, 1971 at Bedford Co., Virginia.1 Larry David Miles and Vickie Lynn Saunders were divorced on September 1, 2000 at Roanoke Co., Virginia.2 Larry David Miles died on December 20, 2025 at Virginia at age 79.4
