     Joan Cross Sutton was buried at Arlington Cemetery, Drexel Hill, Delaware Co., Pennsylvania.⁴ Her Social Security Number was 169-24-1561.³ She was born on January 28, 1925 at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.^3,4 As of 1948,her married name was Wilson.⁴ She married Walter Mosler Wilson in 1948.⁴ Joan Cross Sutton died on June 22, 2002 at Greensburg, Westmoreland Co., Pennsylvania, at age 77.^3,4 She Joan Wilson spent her life surrounded by children. From raising three of her own to teaching kindergarten to serving as a Girl Scout leader, Wilson dedicated herself to helping the young. 'She was a very hands-on mom. She would get down on her hands and play, and she would constantly read to me,' said Wilson's daughter, Donna Siter. Joan S. Wilson, of Greensburg, died Saturday, June 22, 2002, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was 77. She was born Jan. 28, 1925, in Philadelphia, a daughter of the late Joseph J. and Anna Cross Sutton. Mrs. Wilson grew up in suburban Philadelphia. She met her husband, Walter, in the early 1940s when the couple were teen-agers. 'My mother sent me to a dancing class. Her mother had sent her and that's how we got to meet,' Walter Wilson said. The pair graduated from high school. Mrs. Wilson went on to attend the University of Pennsylvania, from which she received her education degree in 1947. Walter Wilson went to the Army. He was in college when they got married in 1948. 'We never lost track of each other,' he said. After graduation, Mrs. Wilson taught kindergarten in the Philadelphia area for four years. She interrupted her career to raise a family, but she always stayed active in community affairs. The Wilson family moved to Greensburg in 1958 when Walter Wilson's job brought them to the area. Around 1971, when the children were older, Mrs. Wilson decided to return to teaching. She started at a private kindergarten before moving on to the Hempfield Area School District when it started its program. She retired in 1987. 'I think she had an aunt who was a teacher and actually her mother taught high school before she was married, so it ran in the family,' Walter Wilson said. 'She thoroughly enjoyed it.' Daughter Donna Siter was in junior high school when her mother returned to work. She remembers helping her mother clean the classroom at the end of school days. Siter said Mrs. Wilson never lost her love of teaching and was nurturing and loving toward the youngsters. 'She loved doing crafts and teaching them things about nature and bringing that into the classroom,' Siter said. Mrs. Wilson's love of nature influenced her children. Siter said her mother started her in gardening at a very young age and now she has a landscaping business. 'She had a wonderful garden ever since they had a house, and she was always very into her flowers and taking care of them,' Siter said. 'We all inherited that from her.' Son Richard Wilson recalls his mother's commitment to the Girl Scouts. 'She knew when to really keep things in line and keep the troop going in the same direction. I respected her a lot for that,' Richard Wilson said. He remembers young women in the troop would keep in touch with his mother for years. 'She was very personable and they looked up to her,' Richard Wilson said. Mrs. Wilson also volunteered with American Field Service, the international student exchange program, by coordinating stops for the students' annual bus tour and doing fund raising. 'We always had a few (foreign exchange students) in our house, so it was a good lesson for us,' Richard Wilson said. Family members also recalled how Mrs. Wilson helped put together a library at East Hempfield Elementary School. 'Even though she didn't teach while we were growing up, she was still heavily involved in things at the school,' Richard Wilson said. Daughter Beth Ann Wilson said her mother was probably busier doing volunteer work than mothers who earned a paycheck outside the home. She said she went into the counseling field because of her mother's influence. Mrs. Wilson loved to connect people and get them to come together. 'She put a lot of effort into maintaining friendships, and I think all three of us have learned how important that is,' Beth Ann Wilson said. Mrs. Wilson was a member of Christ Episcopal Church of Greensburg and served as a Sunday school teacher. She was a member of the Greensburg College Club and the Westmoreland County Garden Club. She was also a former board member of the former Greensburg Library. She is survived by her husband, Walter M. Wilson; a son, Richard J. Wilson and his wife, Susan, of Medfield, Mass; two daughters, Beth Ann Wilson and her husband, Roy N. Rogers, of Media, Delaware County, and Donna W. Siter of West Chester, Chester County; and five grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Barnhart Funeral Home, 505 E. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, today from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Christ Episcopal Church, 145 N. Main St., Greensburg, with the Rev. Lawrence Knotts officiating. Interment will be in Arlington Cemetery, Upper Darby. on June 25, 2002.⁴

A native of Letart Falls, Ohio, Caldwell served in the Army 32 years in both World War I and II before retirement. An Army dental surgeon, he received his D.D.S. from the University of Ohio, he lived here 18 years. Survivors: widow, Ethel Sutton Caldwell; daughter, Ann Caldwell Bennett, Panama City, Fla; son, Col. William B. Caldwell III, recently returned from Vietnam and now stationed at the U.S. Military Academy, West point. N.Y. Funeral and burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery. on May 23, 1968.⁷

Ann was born in 1922 in Washington, D.C., to William Burns Caldwell Jr. and Ethel Sutton Caldwell. The daughter of an Army dentist, Ann traveled widely as a child. She attended Drake University and the University of California at Los Angeles. Although her father was an Army officer and her brother a West Point graduate, she married a midshipman from Annapolis, Warfield Clay Bennett Jr. They met in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, and were both there on Dec. 7, 1941. They married in 1942 and continued their military life together throughout his 30-year naval career. They retired in Panama City in 1965. Ann was a devoted Christian, an avid golfer and gardener and a wonderful mother and friend. Her beautiful smile reflected her love for God and all people. Survivors include a daughter, Ann B. Bennett (and husband Paul Trent) of Santa Barbara, Calif; two sons, W. Clay Bennett III (and wife Joyce) of Tallahassee and Bill Bennett of Richmond, Ky; a brother, Lt. Gen. William B. Caldwell III (and wife Elaine) of Columbus, Ga; a granddaughter, Laura Camp (and husband James) of Carpinteria, Calif; a grandson, Warfield Clay "CJ" Bennett IV of Tallahassee; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. on June 30, 2006.³

     Gen. William Burns Caldwell III was buried at Fort Benning Post Cemetery, Fort Benning, Muscogee Co., Georgia.⁵ He married Elaine Unknown.² Gen. William Burns Caldwell III was born on July 20, 1925 at Fort Moultrie, South Carolina.⁵ He married Theresa Dismuke in 1949.⁵ Gen. William Burns Caldwell III died on March 17, 2013 at Columbus, Muscogee Co., Georgia, at age 87.⁵

     Warfield Clay Bennett III was buried at Richmond Cemetery, 606 East Main Street, Richmond, Madison Co., Kentucky.² His Social Security Number was 263-78-8288.⁵ He was born on February 8, 1948.⁵ He married Joyce Margaret Smith on December 26, 1987 at Florida.³ Warfield Clay Bennett III died on November 10, 2009 at Florida at age 61.^5,4 He Warfield "Clay" Bennett III, 61, died Nov. 10 , 2009, after a brave battle with pancreatic cancer. The son of a naval officer, Clay grew up in California, Hawaii, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Florida, graduating from Episcopal High School in Virginia in 1966. He went on to earn BS and MS degrees from Florida State University, where he played football, tennis and track. He served in the Naval Reserve, including active duty on the USS Stribling during the Vietnam War. Clay ran an independent insurance agency and also worked as a financial planner. An avid golfer, he was a member of Killearn Country Club, and coached golf at Community Christian School. His other passion was hiking in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. In the 1970s, some neighborhood boys convinced him to be a Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 105, which he did with great zest and later took several trips to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. He was a member of Wildwood Presbyterian Church. Clay is survived by his loving wife, Joyce S. Bennett; his son, Warfield Clay Bennett IV ( CJ ); his sister, Ann B. Trent (Paul); brother William C. Bennett; and niece, Laura B. Camp (James ). A memorial will be held Saturday, December 5, 2009, at 3 p.m. EST at Wildwood Presbyterian Church, 100 Ox Bottom Road, Tallahassee, FL. Burial will be held at a later date in Richmond, KY. on November 13, 2009.⁴
