Killion.¹ Barbara Jean Thompson married Unknown Hogan.¹ Barbara Jean Thompson was born on September 23, 1941.⁴ She died on October 6, 2019 at Newland, Avery Co., North Carolina, at age 78.¹ She Barbara Jean Killion, age 78, of Newland entered into the arms of the Lord on Sunday, Oct. 6, 2019, at the Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation. She was a daughter of the late James Cecil and Ruth Pauline Thompson. She was also preceded in death by her Husband: Rufus Killion; Sister: Madge Miller; Brother: Jimmy Thompson; and Daughters-in-law: Angela Killion and Cindy Gay. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ in Newland. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, making blankets and spending time with her family. Left to cherish her memories are her Sons: Roger Killion of Newland, Gary Hogan (Mary) of Arizona, Danny Hogan of Old Fort, Alan Hogan of Johnson City and Ron Killion (Mary) of New Jersey; several Grandchildren; Great-grandchildren; Sisters: Sandy Capaldi and Brenda Ruth, both of Pennsylvania, Cheryl Sparks of Bakersville and Sharon Wright of Spear; and Brother: James Thompson of Pennsylvania. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services were held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10, at The Church of Jesus Christ in Newland. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. prior to the service at the church, with Brother Dave Atkins officiating. A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. on Friday Oct. 11, at the church cemetery on White Pine Road. on October 9, 2019.¹

He was born August 19, 1941, to the late Rufus and Jessie Black Killion, in Jonesboro, TN, but lived most of his life in Avery County. He was also preceded in death by four sisters: Sadie Wagner, Ruth Moorehead, Jenny Jones and Margaret White and a brother, Joe Killion. He was retired from the North Carolina D. O. T. and attended the Church of Christ in Newland. Surviving are his loving wife, Barbara "Bobbie" Killion; five sons: Danny Hogan and wife, Cindy, of Old Fort, Ronnie Killion and wife, Mary, of Pennsylvania; Gary Hogan and wife, Mary, of Tempe, Arizona, Alan Hogan and wife, Bobbie, of Johnson City, TN, and Roger Killion and wife, Angela, of Newland; three brothers: Jack Killion and Ricky White, both of Johnson City, TN and Jay Killion of Jonesboro, TN; 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 11 a. m. on Saturday in the church cemetery.³ He was buried at Church of Jesus Christ Cemetery, Newland, Avery Co., North Carolina.² He married Barbara Jean Thompson, daughter of James Cecil Thompson Sr. and Ruth Pauline Alley.¹ Rufus L.      James Cecil "Jim" Thompson Jr. James "Jim" Cecil Thompson, Jr. of Morisville, PA went home to be with the Lord on May 27, 2021. He as 68 years old.Jim was born in Beckley, West Virginia and raised in both Pennsylvania and North Carolina. He loved the Philadelphia Eagles and was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan. He also loved tinkering with computers. Visiting Columbus Markets on Sundays was one of his favorite places to go, where he would head straight for the Korean lady selling spicy pickles. He loved spending time gardening with his wife, Sharon. He also loved to cook, and he was a real foodie. Jim especially loved spending time with his daughters when the three of them would do Bible study; this time together meant a great deal to him.Jim worked for many years as a Journeyman meat cutter, first with Superfresh Markets, and later with Acme, Fresh Grocer, and lastly with Redner's Markets. He also worked for the EPA at one time.James was preceded in death by his parents James C. Sr. and Pauline Ally Thompson, two brothers James A. Thompson and Bill Alley, three sisters Madge Miller, Barbara Jean Killion and baby sister Judy Lynn Thompson.He was a devoted and loving husband, father, friend, generous to a fault and if had been given a chance, a doting grandpa. He will be greatly missed by many, including his fur babies, Hera and Milo.James is survived by his loving wife, Sharon, two beautiful daughters Natalie Thompson Yatko (Andy) and Nicole Thompson Derr (Shane), two loving stepsons: Ellis I. Coles (Iris) and David j. Coles Jr., four sisters Cheryl Sparks (Larry) of Bakersville, NC, Sharon Wright (CW) of Spruce Pine, NC, Brenda Ruths (Charlie) of Morrisville, PA, and Sandra Capaldi (CJ) of Levittown, PA, along with many nieces, nephews, and a few great-nieces and nephews.² He married Sharon Unknown.² James Cecil "Jim" Thompson Jr. was born on July 11, 1952 at Beckley, Raleigh Co., West Virginia.² He died on May 27, 2021 at Morrisville, Bucks Co., Pennsylvania, at age 68.²
