He was a founding member of Calvary Baptist Church in Newark.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Bertha M. (Salts) Cox. Mr. Cox is survived by his daughter, Debra L. Cox (David Stephenson); son, Timothy W. Cox (Michele); grandchildren, Brandy Cox and Daniel Stephenson (Lori); and great-grandchildren, Kaylah and Riley Stephenson. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle, DE. on January 17, 2017.3

She was in her 94th year. Born March 8, 1913, at Odd, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Arminta Ellen Lilly Meadows. Virgie was the oldest living member of the Church of God Family Worship Center in Beckley, where she was a past president of the Willing Workers Women's Ministry, and a Sunday School teacher. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Luther Everett Robertson in 1975 and Frank Alley in 1999; a son-in-law, Norris Terry; a great-grandson; six brothers, Leslie, Dawson, Clacy, William, Lacy and George Meadows; and 10 sisters, Vinnie Finley, Zettie Snuffer, Mary Ellen McKinney, Lottie McKinney, Rosie Alice Garretson, Ocie Logan, Josie Bolen, Lara Meadows, Charlottie Meadows and Nora Bolen. Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Kermit Robertson and his wife, Frances, of Jamestown, Tennessee; two daughters, Gladola Terry and her husband, Kendall, and Geraldine Terry, all of Lester; her grandchildren, Gene Terry, Wayne Terry, Janet Snuffer, Debbie Terry, David Terry, Linda Auxier, Kenneth Robertson, Judy Dunbar, June Blaylock, Alan Terry, Tom Robertson, Lisa Terry and Tiffany Terry; 21 great- grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Melton Mortuary Chapel with the Revs. Jesse Farley and Sam Peterson officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley. Friends may call 6 until 8 p.m. this evening at the mortuary and one hour prior to the service Tuesday. Grandsons and great- grandsons will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Bowers Hospice House, P.O. Box 1472, Beckley, WV 25802. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family at melton@wvdsl.net. One of six children, Talmadge Grayson Alley was born on February 27, 1937, at Whitby, the son of Frank C. and Lois Manna Jones Alley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Nyla Maynard, and a brother, Mike Meadows. His sisters Patty Bennett of Massachusetts and Rebecca Williams of Oak Hill and a brother, Kenneth of Oregon, survive. Talmadge was a well-known and respected jeweler in the Beckley community. He owned and operated Talmadge's Jewelry for 30 years. He had been a police officer in the town of Mabscott and the City of Beckley. His interests included membership in the Beckley Moose Lodge where he was past governor. Talmadge always enjoyed attending and had many friends at the Moose. In addition to the Alley family, those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Lynn; he was the dear father of Sabrina Richardson and her husband, Tom, Sherry Whitely and husband Mark all of Beckley and Camden Alley of Avon Park, Florida; there are six grandchildren, five great grandchildren and four step children. Talmadge will be laid to rest in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. on January 15, 2018.3

     Charles Nelson Williams This past Wednesday, October 12, 2011 after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease and Leukemia our beloved, Charles Williams passed away at the Veterans Area Medical Center. He was 75 years of age. Born on Nov. 5, 1935, Charles Nelson Williams was the son of the late Nelson and Louise Hodge Williams of Long Branch. As a young adult, Charles entered the US Air Force to begin a distinguished twenty year career of serving his country. He was veteran of the Vietnam War, retiring from service as a Master Sergeant. Charles' passion for 18- wheelers led him to drive for several local coal companies including, Bedcar, Catca and Savage Trucking. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 25 years, Rebecca "Becky" Susan Williams. Charles and Becky are long time residents of Oak Hill. Becky reflects, "Charles was the nicest man. My late father thought as much of him as if he were his own son." Charles leaves his children, Chuck Williams and his wife, Marie of Oak Hill and David Williams and his wife, Pam of Ft. Myers, and Lisa Williams of Charleston; as well as Becky's son, Sean Bolt of Charleston. A brother, Earnest Williams and his wife, Shirley and their son, Kevin and his wife, Brenda all of Fredericksburg, MD survive as well. There are nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. It was Charles' wish to give his body for medical research. His remains were gifted to the West Virginia University Gift Registry.4 His Social Security Number was 232-50-6790.5 He was born on November 5, 1935 at Long Branch, Fayette Co., West Virginia.1,2,3,5,4 He married Rebecca Susan Alley, daughter of Frank Camden Alley and Lois Manna Jones, on May 22, 1987 at Giles Co., Virginia.1 Charles Nelson Williams died on October 12, 2011 at Beckley, Raleigh Co., West Virginia, at age 75.3,5,4
