Lotis T. "Lotus" Mays Lotus T. Canaday, 71, of Charleston, passed away on April 28, 2008, at home after a long illness. She was born June 9, 1936, in Covel, Wyoming County, to the late Logan and Mae Thomas Mays. Lotus was the former owner of Empress Beauty Salon, an employee of Osborne's Beauty Salon, a member of the American Business Women's Association where she received "Boss of the Year," and a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Kanawha City. She is survived by daughter, Anita Mae Ferrell at home; son, Paul Canaday and his wife, Lea Vada, of Charleston; sister, Billie McKinney of Pineville; brother, Blaine Mays of Pompano Beach, Fla; grandchildren, Fawnia Canaday, Kama Holley, Anna Ferrell and Brad Cooper; and great-grandson, Val-Zavier Kane Holley, all of Charleston. At Lotus's request, there will be no visitation or service. The family would like to thank Dr. Jagannath, Dr. Todd Witzberger and their staff, Kanawha Hospice, Medical Center Pharmacy, especially Cathy Griffith.1 Her Social Security Number was 235-54-2911.2 Her married name was Canaday.1 She married Paul Leonard Canaday, son of Frederick Moody "Fred" Canaday and Damie Alice Webb.1 Lotis T. Nancy Jane Johnston Nancy Jane Calvert passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2020. She was a lifelong resident of Raleigh County and ran the hardware store in Coal City for 18 years. Nancy was a member of Sunset Hills Missionary Baptist Church and an active member in T.O.P.S. She was a wonderful homemaker and terrific cook who served everyone she could her entire life. She will greatly missed by Paul and Amy, Debra Dean and countless friends. She was the sweetest soul anyone ever knew. She was born on September 22, 1942 to the late Charles "Charlie" Lee Johnston and Audrey Christine Lilly-Johnston. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, Gary Curtiss Calvert, who also passed away on May 24, 2020; her son, Mark Curtiss Calvert; her brothers, Oris Lee Johnston, Ira James "Butch" Johnston, and Lloyd Delmas Johnston; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jethro "Jake" Buchannon Calvert and Virginia A. Meadows-Calvert. She is survived by her son, Paul Eric Calvert; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; her sister, Myra Johnston-Sherriff; and brother, Ray Johnston.2 She was born on September 22, 1942 at Besoco, Raleigh Co., West Virginia.2,3 As of August 13, 1959,her married name was Calvert.3 She married Gary Curtiss Calvert, son of Jethro Buchannon Calvert and Virginia Arista Meadows, on August 13, 1959 at Narrows, Giles Co., Virginia.1,2,3 Nancy Jane Johnston died on May 24, 2020 at Raleigh Co., West Virginia, at age 77.1,2
