J.B. was most proud of his service to the United States as a Navy Seabee (Navel Mobile Construction Battalion) during Word War II, the Korean War and Vietnam. He served around the globe from the island of Guam, Sicily, Bermuda, Jacksonville, Fla., Phu Bai and Dong Ha, Vietnam. J.B. retired from the Navy on March 6, 1969. J.B. also retired from General Telephone Company (Verizon) in April 1987, where he supervised cable crews that buried thousands of miles of fiber optic cable throughout the midwest. J.B. will be interred later this spring next to his children, Jack and Mary Jennifer, and his parents at Montgomery Memorial Park, London, W.Va. on February 1, 2015.⁴
