     Jack Duane Schonert Sr. Jack Duane Schonert Sr. was welcomed into the arms of Jesus Saturday, February 16, 2013, after a year long battle with cancer. He was 76. Mr. Schonert was born April 6, 1936 in Big Rapids to Charles and Ethel (Bush) Schonert. He graduated from Evart High School in 1954. Jack married Yvonne Warden February 25, 1955 at the Faith Bible Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Mr. Schonert learned to cut meat at Curtis's Grocery in Evart at the age of 17, which was a skill he used his entire life. He moved to Kalamazoo after marriage and was a butcher in a meat department learning more and more and then became manager. A job at Orton's IGA brought Jack and his family back to Evart, where he worked until he bought the store with his good friend and partner, Marvin Cass. Later his friend and son, Jack Schonert Jr., became his business partner. Jack was an active member of Faith Bible Church, where he led the congregation in music, taught classes, served on the Deacon Board, and encouraged and mentored many people. He was very active in Gideon's International, speaking and distributing God's word. His wife Yvonne Schonert of Evart, 3 daughters, Barbara Smith of Ithaca, Melody (Bert) Walker of Big Rapids, Sara (Steve) Egloff of Alma, son, Jack (Lori) Schonert of Marion, 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and 2 brothers, Charles (Winona) Schonert of Cadillac and James (Linda) Schonert of Evart survive him. His parents, brother Richard Schonert and son-in-law Bill Smith preceded him in death. Internment will be in the Sylvan Township Cemetery. Sias on December 8, 1963 at Santa Clara Co., California.⁵ Richard Lee Schonert Sr. and Lidia A. Sias were divorced on January 27, 1983 at Monterey Co., California.⁷ Richard Lee Schonert Sr. died on December 31, 2003 at Salinas, Monterey Co., California, at age 66.^2,3,4 He Richard Lee Schonert Sr., 66, of Salinas, died at his home Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, after a lengthy illness. He was born Sept. 7, 1937, in Big Rapids, Mich., and had lived in Salinas for 37 years. He performed building main tenance work for the county of Monterey. Military: U.S. Navy. Survivors: Daughter, Brenda Schonert of Salinas; son, Richard (Lori) Schonert Jr. of Salinas; brothers, Jack Schonert and James Schonert, both of Evart, Mich., and Charles Schonert of Cadillac, Mich; granddaughters, Nicole and Carley. Services: 4 p.m. today, Jan. 5, at Healey Mortuary Chapel, 405 N. Sanborn Road, Salinas. Cremation: directed by Healey Crematory Co., Salinas. Inurnment of his ashes will be in Sylvan Township Cemetery, Evart, Mich. on January 5, 2004.³

     Yvonne Lorraine Warden Yvonne Lorraine (Warden) Schonert, born on September 17, 1935 to Raymond and Helen (Rush)
Warden, was ushered out of this world under the watchful care of her Heavenly Father and her children on July 17, 2020. Yvonne married Jack Schonert, the love of her life, on February 25, 1955. He preceded her in death, as did her parents and sons-in law, Bill Smith and Bert Walker. She is survived by her son Jack Jr. (Lori) Schonert, and daughters Barbara Smith, Melody Walker, and Sara (Steve) Egloff, ten grandchildren, Matthew, Jeremy, Michael, Jacob, Olivia, Caleb, Jennifer, Abby, Ava, Elijah, and eight great-grandchildren, Carol, Keira, Gabby, Herman, Natalie, Thomas, Riley, and Mia. In addition to her extended family and friends, she also leaves behind her beloved Faith Bible Church family, of which she had been a member for 70 years. Evart had been home to Yvonne for most of her life, although she did move to Kalamazoo after she graduated from high school in the spring of 1954 to work at Kalamazoo Stationery. (And wouldn't you know, her sweetheart Jack decided Kalamazoo would be a fine place to find employment too and headed south to seek his fortune—which, of course, he knew he had already found in Yvonne.) After she and Jack were married, they remained in Kalamazoo, started a family, and within a few years moved back up north and eventually returned to the Evart area. Although she returned to the workforce in various part-time capacities at the IGA store and enjoyed the trips she made to Mexico, Canada, Europe and South America, life for Yvonne revolved around faith and family. She was actively committed to the ministry of her church, supporting it in any way she could through acts of service that included playing piano, teaching Sunday school, directing Christmas programs, working in vacation Bible schools, and serving as the church treasurer. It was also her responsibility to pack up and send off the boxes of cookies that she and other women in the Philatheon Circle baked for military hospitality centers. She and Jack were long-time youth group leaders and enjoyed hosting teen activities in their home. In their later years, both were active in Gideons International, supporting its ministry, participating in numerous Bible distributions, and making new friends. Yvonne embraced the challenge of reading through the Bible every year, and she took a special delight in the sweet fellowship she had with the ladies in her Bible study group. She looked forward to family gatherings, whether it was meeting up with cousins at a lakeside reunion or surveying a houseful of offspring during a holiday dinner. Yvonne cherished her role as wife and mother, and that joy in her life's calling multiplied with each addition to her family. As every new in-law, grandchild, great-grandchild, niece or nephew came along she welcomed her or him with open arms—and, often, a crochet hook. The afghans and doilies she lovingly created and bestowed on her loved ones are part of her legacy, but, as beautiful as they are, pale in comparison to the devotion she displayed to her Lord and Savior, in whom she now rests. The family would like to express its appreciation to the Spectrum Hospice team--Goldie, Missy, Theresa, and Dan--for the wonderful care and support they provided.      Johann Honeycutt was buried at Highland Memorial Cemetery, Mount Carmel, Wabash Co., Illinois.⁴ She MOUNT CARMEL — Johann Shearer, 85, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2020 at Oakview Nursing Home surrounded by the love of her family. She was born March 1, 1935 in Breckenridge, Michigan, the daughter of Erna and Beulah Irene (Schonert) Honeycutt. She married Donald K. Shearer on Oct. 3, 1952 and together they enjoyed 61 years of marriage until his passing on Jan. 26, 2014. Johann was a member of the Mount Carmel High School graduating class of 1952. Early in her working years, she was employed as a telephone operator and as a waitress. She worked in the clothing factories, both in Mount Carmel and Albion, before her retirement in 1980. Johann was an avid NASCAR fan and Casey Kane was her favorite driver. Johann enjoyed traveling, where she visited 47 states either by car or motorcycle. Johann was a member of Asbury Chapel for 60 years. She was a loving mother and grandmother who was very proud of her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Johann will be dearly missed. Johann will be remembered by her daughter, Perfidia Woods and husband, Kenny of Mount Carmel; sons, Archey Shearer and wife Theresia of Plainfield, Indiana, Nick Shearer and wife Carol of Winder, Georgia and Rickey Shearer and wife Teresa of Carthage, Tennessee; ten grandchildren, Zach (Ashlei) Woods, Josh (Melissa) Woods, Ashley (Josh) Dixon, Lauren (Allen) Dixon, Emily (Brandon) Sciara, Grace, Havah and Alivia Shearer, Hannah (Katelyn) Shearer, Paige (Stephen) Clay; great- grandchildren, Maddox, Payton and Avery Woods, Finley, Jaxx, Bo, Levi, Logan, Ashlynn, Morgan Kate, Sadie, Lacy and Jack Dixon, baby Clay arriving in June of 2021; sister, Sarah Small; brothers, Erna (Brenda) Honeycutt, Terry (Tina) Honeycutt; many loved cousins, nieces and nephews. Johann was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald Shearer; great-granddaughter, Callie Paige Woods; sister, Janet Ankenbrand; brother-in-law, Gaylord Small. A private family graveside service was conducted Sunday, Dec. 27, 2020, at Highland Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Vaughn Courter officiating. She was laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Don.⁴ She was born on March 1, 1935 at Breckenridge, Gratiot Co., Michigan.⁴ As of October 3, 1952,her married name was Shearer.⁴ She married Donald K. Shearer on October 3, 1952.^2,3,4 Johann Honeycutt died on December 23, 2020 at Mount Carmel, Wabash Co., Illinois, at age 85.⁴

     Gaylord A. Small Mr. Gaylord A. “Bud” Small, age 83, of Robinson, IL, died Friday September 27, 2013 at 9:10 PM at Skilled Care Unit, Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson, IL, following several months of failing health. Born October 24, 1929 in Millerville (Petrolia) Lawrence County, IL, he was the son of Icle “Jack” and Lora D. (Keen) Small. On December 1, 1950 he married Sarah K. Honeycutt and she survives. He worked in Coal Mine Construction for AMAX Coal Company; and locally as a sheet metal fabricator for Sturm Plumbing and Heating, Robinson, IL, retiring in 1992. Bud served in the U.S. Army, Korea; was a member of the Highland Church of Christ, Robinson, IL; member of Sheet Metal Workers Union #20, Terre Haute, IN; E.M. Coulter Post #69, American Legion, Robinson, IL; 50 year member Bridgeport Lodge #386, AF & AM, Bridgeport, IL; Swords of Bunker Hill and Star Prowler Square Dance Club. Bud worked in coal mine construction, working at several AMAX mines early in his career. Survivors include his wife, Sarah K. Small, Robinson, IL; son and daughter-in-law, G. Michal and Kathi Small, Evansville, IN; two step grandchildren, Stephanie and Darrel Russell, Mt. Vernon, IN; Brandon Smith, Evansville, IN; four step great grandchildren, Kati Russell, Mt. Vernon, IN; MaKenna Russell, Mt. Vernon, IN; Kale Smith, Carmi, IL and Kinady Smith, Carmi, IL along with several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; an infant sister, Juenella Small and a brother, Jack Small on June 24, 2013. Burial will be in the Whitehouse Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Lawrenceville, IL.³ He was buried at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Bridgeport, Lawrence Co., Illinois.³ He was born on October 24, 1929 at Millerville, Lawrence Co., Illinois.³ He married Sarah K. Shearer was buried at Highland Memorial Cemetery, Mount Carmel, Wabash Co., Illinois.³ He was born in July, 1930.⁴ He married Johann Honeycutt, daughter of Erna Watson Honeycutt and Beulah Irene Schonert, on October 3, 1952.^1,2,3 Donald K. Shearer died on January 26, 2014 at Mount Carmel, Wabash Co., Illinois, at age 83.³
