     Albert B. Smith was buried at Rose Hill Cemetery, Robinson, Brown Co., Kansas.3,4 He Albert served as a private in Company H, 8th Virginia Calvary and Company H, 60th Virginia Infantry during the Civil War. He was born on August 13, 1849 at Mercer Co., Virginia (now West Virginia).1,3,5,4 He married Liona Elizabeth DeWeese, daughter of Andrew Jackson DeWeese and Rozena Hall, on March 2, 1871 at Mercer Co., West Virginia.1 Albert B. Smith died on August 12, 1914 at Robinson, Brown Co., Kansas, at age 64.3,4 He A. B. Smith was born in Mercer county, West Virginia, August 13, 1849, and died at his home in Robinson Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock after a lingering illness of eight months. Mr. Smith underwent an operation at the German hospital at Kansas City about the first of the year from which he never fully recovered. He remained there about weeks, and since that time has under the care of a trained nurse. Mr. Smith came to Kansas in and settled in Doniphan, Kansas, where he remained about 15 coming to Robinson in 1885, years, where he engaged in business as a grain dealer. In June, 1913, he was appointed postmaster at Robinson. had the characteristics of the southern gentleman, always clever, pleasant and agreeable, not only in home but to the many friends he throughout the county. The editor of this paper was acquainted with deceased for almost twenty-five years and that acquaintance had grown into a lasting friendship that writer can never forget. He was man of few enemies and it can be truthfully said that he was even kind sweet to those who had been unkind to him. He had a way of throwing things off, that is rare in human make-up. He was a man of property and means; he was economical, pains taking and lived within his income, and as a result, his life was a happy one. This community loses a good citizen, a kind father, and a loving husband. Mr. Smith was a 32nd degree Mason of Hiawatha chapter and member of the Robinson camp, Modern Woodmen of America. He survived by his wife, three sons and four daughters: Charles T., of Bluefield, W. Va; H. Edwin, of Manhattan; A. Byron, of Robinson; and Miss Inez Smith, of Robinson; Mrs. M. U. Freeland, of Everest; Mrs. O. G. Edwards, of Denver, Colo., and Mrs. L. H. Libel, of Leona. Burial will be made the Robinson cemetery. on August 13, 1914.4

He was born May 9, 1924 in Chicago the son of Angelo and Saraphina (Tiritilli) Petitti Sr. Moving to Dixon right out of Engineering School, he worked as a Civil Engineer for the Illinois Dept. of Transportation for 36 years prior to his retirement in 1987. However, he never stood still. He was always busy and dedicated his life to helping others. He was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church, a founding member of the Briar Knoll Hunting Club, and was a past long time member and volunteer at the Dixon YMCA for over 30 years. Fred was also a volunteer at Heritage Square in Dixon, for Lee County Irish Heritage Society Events, Meals on Wheels, was a member of Knights of Columbus and helped build the hall, and Strong Member of the NRA. He loved canoeing, dancing, golfing, pheasant hunting, politics, reading, swimming, Italian food and day trips across the roads of Illinois with the dog. Pete was in the Navy and served as Chief Airman during World War II, from 1941 - 1947, in a PBY as a Flight Engineer and Gunner when needed. He was deployed in Nicaragua and Galapagos. He married the love of his life, Irene Manning, April 19, 1952, in Chicago at Holy Angels Church. She preceded him in death March 23, 2000. He was also loving father of his late daughter Debra, and also preceded in death by two sisters Rachel Olos and Antoinette Muccianti and one brother Angelo Petitti. He is survived by one son Thomas J. Petitti of Tuscon, AZ and one daughter Maria L. Mackey of Chesterfield, VA, 2 granddaughters Allissa Curtis and Angelica Ferrara and 3 great grandsons; fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. Military Honors by the Combined Veterans Group will follow the Mass at the church. Mary was born and raised in Butler, the daughter of Estelle and Jacob Green. She graduated from Butler High School in 1949, and she married Robert Manning in 1951. He died in 1984. Mary was a delightfully, witty homemaker, who was an avid Steelers fan and one who enjoyed traveling, playing cards and wagering on the horses. She was also a successful entrepreneur, co-owning the Harmar House in Acme and the Vowinckle Hotel in Cook's Forest. Most of all, she loved her family, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, Susie and her husband, Eddie Bresuciak, of Forest Hill, Md; her son, Michael Manning and his wife, Joyce, of Penn Hills; five grandchildren, Jason, Kristan and Zachary Trunzo, Courtney Bresuciak and Nick Parker; and six great-grandchildren, Leif, Ella, Ricky, Kaitlin, McKenzie and Cadence. Also surviving are four siblings, her brothers, Edward Green and his wife, Shirley, and Robert Green and his wife, Renie; and her sisters, Evelyn Gamble and Margaret Friel and her husband, Joseph. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Manning; her son, Jimmy; an infant who died at birth; her sister, Sarah Dawson; and her dear friend, Jules Dominici. Mary will be interred in Lakewood Memorial Gardens, Cheswick. on February 27, 2012.2

Pauline Brodka died on June 2, 2020 at Lawrenceville, Pennsylvania, at age 87.1 She Pauline (Brodka) Manning, 87, of Harwick, died Tuesday, June 2, 2020, in Family Hospice Care of Canterbury Place of Lawrenceville after a brief illness. She was born Sept. 28, 1932, in Curtisville to her parents, the late Henry and Lena Brodka, and has been a longtime resident of the community. Pauline graduated from West Deer High School in 1950. On March 15, 1952, she married Charles E. Manning, who preceded her in death Dec. 4, 1985. She enjoyed gardening, solitaire, crossword puzzles, watching old classic movies, "Ancient Aliens," Animal Planet and taking care of her cat Sniffers, but her greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her family. Pauline was small in stature but had a giant heart. She was active for many years with the Lower Valley Ambulance Service and the Harmar and Springdale Township volunteer fire departments. Surviving her are sons Dennis "Monk" Manning, of Acmetonia, and George (Pam) Manning, of Harwick; two daughters, Jacqueline Manning, of Blawnox, and Karen (David) Dzik, of Washington, Pa; six grandchildren, Zachary Layhew, Emily and Rachel Dzik, Stephanie Manning, Cara (Matt) Kauper and Antonio (Amanda) Mattone; and four great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; brothers, Walter, Albert, John, Tony and Rudy; as well as her sisters Mary Armour and Annie Gardner. Burial to follow in Lakewood Memorial Gardens. on June 3, 2020.1

     Stella Meriam Dillon Funeral Services were held on Saturday, Feb. 21 at 2:00 p.m. from the United Methodist Church in Arnold for Mrs. Stella M. Smith, who passed away on Wednesday, February 18 at North Platte, Nebr. Rev. Stanley Schrag officiated at the services. Mrs. Stanley Schrag was the organist. Pallbearers were: Don Smith, Max Smith, Bobbie Smith and Craig Smith. Interment was at the Garfield Cemetery with the Quig Funeral Home in charge of the arrangments. Stella Miriam Smith was born on August 25, 1870 in a log cabin near Nebraska City, Nebraska to Augustine and Angeline Dillon, the second child in a family of five, and departed this life quietly on Wednesday, February 18, 1970 at Linden Manor Rest Home in North Platte, Nebraska at the age of 99 1/2 years. While a yound child she moved west with her family and located in the Garfield neighbohood where her father filed on a tre claim. On November 13, 1889 she was united in marriage to Jacob Smith at Garfield. To this union five children were born: Lyle, Mynor, Bill, Mable and Lloyd, who died in infancy. By the year 1890 her parents had died leaving a 7-year old sister whom she raised. In 1891 she joined the Methodist Church and has been a member ever since, where she was Sunday School Superintendent of Garfield church for many years and taught Sunday School in the Arnold Church for many years after they moved to town in 1916 where her husband died the following year. During World War I she sewed for the Red Cross, which is just an example of how she spent the rest of her life helping people from their birth to their grave and giving physical as well as spirtual adjustments in between. Until nearly one year ago at the age of 98, she lived alone, and managed and cared for her own home in Arnold. She spent the last 11 months at the Linden Manor Rest Home in North Platte. Mrs Smith is survived by her three sons: Lyle of Bakersfield, Calif., Mynor of Arnold & Will of Gillette, Wyo; and one daughter: Mrs. Mable Anderson of Phoenix, Arizona; also nine grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, 1 great- great- grandchild, and other relatives and an unlimited number of friends.2 She was buried at Garfield Cemetery, Lincoln Co., Nebraska.1,5 She was born on August 25, 1870 at Nebraska City, Otoe Co., Nebraska.1,2,6,5 She married Jacob Hannibal Smith, son of Andrew Jackson Smith and Elizabeth Gertrude Ernst, on November 13, 1889 at Garfield, Lincoln Co., Nebraska.1,2,6 As of November 13, 1889,her married name was Smith. Loretta Atkins sang during the services, accompanied by Mrs. Mynor Smith at the organ. Pall bearers were Don Smith, Bob Smith, Max Smith, Loyal Claudson, Dale Joy and Loren Dillon. Burial was in the Garfield cemetery. As Zella J. Dillon, Mrs. Smith was born at Seward, Nebraska, on November 24, 1875 and died at Broken Bow, Nebraska, on April 18, 1962 at the age of 76 years, four months and 24 days. She was married to Seymore Smith on January 26, 1893, on Garfield Table. Four children were born to this one union. One child and her husband preceded her in death. Mrs. Smith joined the Methodist church early in life and had her membership at Callaway at the time of her death. She was active in the work of the church and community as long as her health permitted, and was a member of W. S. C. S. and the Royal Neighbor lodge. Mrs. Smith is survived by her son, Clark, and a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Gordon of Callaway; a daughter, Mrs. Katherine Russel, of North Platte.
