Betty was born November 24, 1932 to Guy Ribble Smith and Daisy Alma Smith in Roanoke, VA. She attended school at William Byrd High School. She married Clarence Lyle on April 25, 1953 in Roanoke, VA. She worked in Human Resources at General Tire for 25 years. Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Lyle. She is survived by her daughters, Debra Amburgey and her husband, Gary of Odessa, Denise Tondera and her husband, Hal of Richmond, TX; grandchildren, Holley, Hope, Blaine, David, Danny, Brittany; great grandchildren, Mason, Maddox, Colton, Hudson, Cason, Hollis, Kaydence, Nolan and Ally.4 She was buried at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Odessa, Ector Co., Texas.5,4 She was born on November 24, 1932 at Roanoke, Virginia.2,3,5,4 As of April 25, 1953,her married name was Lyle.2 She married Clarence Oliver Lyle on April 25, 1953 at Roanoke, Virginia.2,6,4 Betty Jane Smith died on May 9, 2019 at Odessa, Ector Co., Texas, at age 86.5,4

Dillon, Jr., a brother, Earl R. Dillon and a sister, Estelle LaSota. He is survived by his loving wife, Maxine Ginther Dillon; five daughters, Darlene Rickman and her husband Chuck; Connie Mally; Bonnie Hudson and her husband Robert; June Goddard and her companion Greg Sanders; Debbie Fuhrman and her husband Ed; four brothers, Jerry Dillon and his wife Lorraine; Donald Dillon and his wife Louise; Jack Dillon and his wife Cordelia; Bobby Dillon and his wife Sarah; two sisters, Jean Brooks and her husband Hubert; Patricia Hartman and her husband Clarence; 13 grandchildren, over 30 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. The family would like to take this opportunity to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to the entire VA Support System and the staff of Good Samaritan Hospice, especially Kathy, Mary, Sandy and Melissa for the care and love shown during John's illness. A graveside service will be held at 1PM, Saturday, August 27, 2011 at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Chaplain Marvin Barbre will officiate. Military Honors will be afforded by members of the Virginia Army National Guard Funeral Honors Team. on August 25, 2011.4

He lived his life full of zest, always enjoyed a good joke and was constantly seen with a smile on his face. He will be greatly missed by all. His mother, Dorothea Smith Dillon; adoptive parents, Daisy and Guy Smith, Sr; two brothers, James W. Smith, Sr. and Guy R. Smith, Jr., preceded Butch in death. Surviving are his wife, Cissy L. Dillon; daughters, Tammie Goetsch and husband, Brett, Johnna Ingersoll and husband, Darryl; grandchildren, Jordan, Kali and Wesley Goetsch, Dillon and Dayton Ingersoll; sisters and their husbands, Darlene and Chuck Rickman, Betty and Clarence Lyle, Pasty and Cecil Doss, Elsie and Bobby Pillow, Judy and John Schear; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Interment with Military Honors will follow in the Mount Union Cemetery. on July 13, 2004.6

Clarence was born April 25, 1930. He married Betty J. Smith on April 25, 1953. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Clarence was a veteran of the Korean War. He served in the United States Army for 22 years. He was awarded the Purple Heart, National Defense Medal OLC with Army Commendation Medal, Good conduct Medal three times, Expert MSL Badge, Marksman Rifle M-14, Korean Service Medal with four Bronze Stars and the United Nations Service Medal.
Clarence was the building Superintendent for 28 years at Crescent Park Church. He taught the young adult Sunday school class for over 30 years. He also enjoyed wood working and carpentry. Using his talent he blessed countless family members and friends with his homemade gifts. Clarence also was a huge Dallas Cowboy fan. Clarence is preceded in death by his father, Merriman Lyle, mother, Martha Lyle; sisters, Celia, Edith, Mildred, Louise and his brothers, Marvin and Ronnie. He is survived by his wife, Betty Lyle of Odessa; daughter, Debi Amburgey and husband Gary of Odessa, daughter, Denise Tondera and husband Hal of Richmond, TX; brother, Hal Lyle and wife, Bonnie of Ashville, NC; grandchildren, Holley Morgan and husband Jason of Monahan’s, TX, Hope Nabarrette and husband, Mike of Odessa, TX, Blaine Amburgey of Odessa, TX, David Tondera and wife Kristen of Bellville, TX, Danny Tondera and wife, Jennifer of Rosenberg, TX, Brittany Tondera of Richmond, TX; great grandchildren, Mason Lyle Morgan, Maddox Marie Morgan, Colton Myles Nabarrette, Hudson Whit Morgan, Cason Michael Nabarrette, Hollis Gray Morgan, Kaydence Riley Tondera, Nolan Lyle Tondera and Allie Grace Tondera. Pallbearers are his grandsons and great grandsons. The family of Mr. Lyle would like to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. P.J. Patel for his tireless care of Clarence. on April 5, 2017.2
