He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Melissa Jarvis; sister, Ruth Carte; and brothers, Ivan and Elvin Jarvis Sr. Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Nina Williams Jarvis; nephew and his wife, Jim and Carol Jarvis of Florida; nieces and their husbands, Jan and Donald Holcomb, Tammy and Buddy Hicks, and Carolyn and Larry McKinney, all of Charleston; and many other relatives and friends. Burial will be in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes, with military graveside rites by American Legion Post 61, Clendenin. on May 25, 2007.5

James Edward "Jim" Jarvis It is with great sadness that the family of James Jarvis, known to friends as "Jim," announces his passing on August 19, 2018, at the age of 80. Jim follows his parents, Elvin V. Jarvis, Sr. and Cynthia "Mildred" Jarvis, and his brother, Carl "Joe" Jarvis, to the glory of heaven. A native of Charleston, WV, Jim served in the US Air Force from 1954-1958. Jim settled down in the Daytona Beach area where he worked for Florida Power & Light, retiring after 28 years. He is survived by the love of his life, Carol Jarvis, his brothers, Elvin Jarvis, Jr. (Florida), Jack Jarvis (Florida) and John Jarvis (West Virginia), and many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. James Alvie Carnes James Alvie "Jim" Carnes, 93, of St. Albans, passed away Sunday, November 25, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born October 28, 1925 in Kanawha County, the son of Stanton and Mary Estal Carnes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Leroy; sister, Opal Hackney; first wife, Bertha; infant daughter, Judy; and step son, Richard Roberts. He was survived by his wife, Jo Ann; children, Janet Wright (David), of N.C., and Jimmy Carnes (Becky), of St Albans; grandson, Matt Wright, of N.C; step children, Helen Yankey (Terry), Patricia Walls (Terry), Richard Eads, II, and David Eads; step grandchildren, Jeanny, Debbie, and Mark; a host of step grandchildren; and nephews, Perry (Libbie), Chester, and Danny Carnes (Stephanie), and niece, Helen Burns (Jim). Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, in Cross Lanes. Jim was a proud ironworker of Local 787 for 66 years. He was a journeyman ironworker that built many bridges and tunnels in W.Va., Va., Ky., Oh., and Mich. He worked on Bender Bridge and Dunbar Toll Bridge to name a couple. He was a US Navy Veteran having served in WW II and he drove an LCI (Landing Craft Infantry) and participated in seven invasions as supply runner. He was most proud he took Gen. McCarther to shore from his ship. He was an avid outdoorsman, and loved gardening and tinkering in his garage. A loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend that will be missed by all who knew him.2 He was buried at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, 5233 Rocky Fork Road, Cross Lanes, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.2,3 He married Jo Ann Unknown.2 James Alvie Carnes was born on October 28, 1925 at Charleston, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.2,3,5 He married Bertha Naomi Shaffer on October 8, 1947 at Charleston, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.2,4,6 James Alvie Carnes died on November 25, 2018 at St. Albans, Kanawha Co., West Virginia, at age 93.2,3

Leroy has 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston. on June 28, 2004.7
