Loretta is survived by a daughter and her husband, Gloria and Tom Cobb; a son, Keith Calton; a grandson, Dusty Rogers; a great grandson, Tucker Wyatt Rogers; four siblings, Eva Dial and Margaret Biggs and husband Wayne, Ralph Wilson, and Roy Wilson and wife Nan; many nieces and nephews; and extended family and friends. A private burial in the Marshfield Cemetery. on November 10, 2013.1

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roby H. and Roxie Hall Scott. He is survived by his loving wife, Patsy Ann Scott; and three devoted children, daughter, Beth Ann Riemann and husband, Roger, of Irmo, S.C., daughter, Wanda Kaye Scott, of Lynchburg, and son, John Kevin Scott and wife, Lisa of Roanoke. He left behind five grandchildren, Christy St. John, Melissa Frank, Rachel and Ethan Scott, and Jacob Davis; and one great-grandson, Caleb St. John; two sisters, Viola Martin and husband, Bobby, and Belle Golding and husband, Senate; and a host of dear nieces and nephews. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was retired from the N&S Railroad as a paint foreman and played fiddle with the N&W Stringband at the White House and Pentagon several times. He was a long time member of Shenandoah Baptist Church. The family would like to thank the staff and Virginia Veterans Care Center and the VA Hospital. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. on July 11, 2012.1

At the time of her death, she was living at Autumn Care of Mechanicsville where she received excellent care and concern by the nursing staff as well as other staff members. She was the daughter of the late Katherine Lenoah Smith Ross and Charles Louis Ross, Sr. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Victor Goudie, Sr. and a brother, Charles Louis Ross, Jr. Mary was born in Bluefield, West Virginia, and grew up in Ferrum, Virginia. She was a graduate of Ferrum College and Lewis Gale School of Nursing. She was a Registered Nurse who worked at Martinsville General Hospital, Bassett-Walker Knitting, and Harmony Hall.  She was the office nurse for Dr. Stanley and Dr. Thomas. She was a member of Bassett Memorial United Methodist Church for over 70 years. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Katherine Wagner (Paul) of Mechanicsville, Charles Victor Goudie, Jr. (Sandy) of Roanoke, and former son-in-law, Daniel Small of Richmond. Also surviving are grandchildren, John Small, Karl Small (Katie), Ross Small, Jason McNeil and Aaron McNeil; great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Cameron Small, Maxx, Roselynn, Spencer and Mischa McNeil; sister-in-law, Barbara Ross, of Lynchburg; her brother’s children, LouAnne Ross Purnell of Georgia, Bob Ross of Lynchburg and Elizabeth Ann Perdue of Rocky Mount; along with many relatives of her husband in Illinois and Georgia. Prior to leaving Bassett, her devoted and caring caregiver was Babs Jarrett Priddy. The family will always be grateful for her assistance in keeping Mama in her home until she was almost 99. Also, her special niece, Elizabeth Anne Purdue, R.N., (Marvin) of Rocky Mount provided much assistance over the years with her health care. A brief graveside service will be held at approximately 2:30 p.m. at the St. James United Methodist Church cemetery in Ferrum, Virginia.1 She was buried at Saint James Cemetery, Ferrum, Franklin Co., Virginia.1,2 She was born on September 27, 1920 at Bluefield, Mercer Co., West Virginia.1,2 As of April 14, 1943,her married name was Goudie.5 She married Charles Victor Goudie Sr. on April 14, 1943 at Camden Co., North Carolina.1,5 Mary Frances Ross died on May 20, 2020 at Mechanicsville, Hanover Co., Virginia, at age 99.1,2

     Charles Louis Ross Jr. was buried at Saint James Cemetery, Ferrum, Franklin Co., Virginia.3,2 He Charles Louis Ross, Jr., 89, of Rocky Mount, Va., went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 12, 2014 at the James River Nursing and Convalescent Center in Newport News, Va., following an extended illness. He was born in Ferrum, Va. to the late Charles Louis, Sr and Katherine L. Smith on February 17, 1925. Charles graduated from Ferrum Training School in 1943, was drafted into the army and proudly served his country as an X-Ray technician with the 80th Field Hospital Unit in the European Campaign during WWII from 1943-1946. He attended Virginia Tech and University of Virginia. He married Barbara Anne Richards of the Pleasant Hill community. A dedicated and loving father and husband, Charles also made many friends throughout the community as a sewing machine sales and service technician and a tinker, trader, big band, zydeco and traditional mountain music fan, especially old time fiddling. One of his greatest joys came through the fellowship with his church, Central Grace Church of Rocky Mount and his beloved family there. Charles is survived by his wife, Barbara Richards Ross; sister, Mary Frances Goudie of Bassett, Va; two children: Robert R. Ross, of Hampton, Va. and Lou Anne Ross-Purnell, of Flowery Branch, Ga; two grandchildren: Betsy R. (David) Payne, of Santa Rita, Guam and Zachery A. Purnell of Atlanta, Ga; sister-in-law, Catherine (William) Kingery and brother-in-law, John W. Richards of Rocky Mount; and many nieces and nephews. Interment will follow the service at St. James Methodist Church in Ferrum, Va.2 He was born on February 17, 1925 at Ferrum, Franklin Co., Virginia.3,2,4,6 He married Clara Marie Pugh on June 4, 1949 at Franklin Co., Virginia.8 Charles Louis Ross Jr. and Clara Marie Pugh were divorced on March 15, 1952 at Franklin Co., Virginia.5 Charles Louis Ross Jr. married Barbara Anne Richards on March 17, 1952 at Camden Co., North Carolina.2,10,9 Charles Louis Ross Jr. died on November 12, 2014 at Newport News, Virginia, at age 89.3,2
