     Dewey A. Keatley Funeral services for Dewey (D.A.) Keatley, 62, of Beckley, formerly of Mount Hope, will be held Wednesday. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Keatley died at 7 p.m. Sunday while visiting at Frost. Death was attributed to a heart attack. A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Albert Keatley, he was born at Speedway, Sept. 7, 1903. He was a retired miner; a member of the Mount Hope Baptist Temple and United Mine Workers of America. Survivors include his wife, Hallie; three sons, Jack, of Mount Hope, Kenneth of Beckley and Hugh of Martinsville; three sisters, Mrs. Bessie Price and Mrs. Marie Kessinger, bother of Athens and Mrs. Carrie Snead of Charleston and six grandchildren.² He was buried at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, 5250 Robert Centre Byrd Drive, Prosperity, Raleigh Co., West Virginia.² He was born on September 7, 1903 at Speedway, Mercer Co., West Virginia.² He married Margarette Shawkey, daughter of George Washington Shawkey and Nannie Ellen Martin, on November 3, 1962 at Pearisburg, Giles Co., Virginia.¹ Dewey A. Keatley died on September 12, 1965 at Frost, Pocahontas Co., West Virginia, at age 62.²

     Sonny Boy Herbert was buried at Davids Cemetery, 4600 Mad River Road, Kettering, Montgomery Co., Ohio.^3,4 He was born on September 24, 1933 at Sprague, Raleigh Co., West Virginia.^1,2,3,4 He married Carolyn Sue Blankenship, daughter of Carlyle Walton Blankenship and Margarette Shawkey, on December 6, 1954 at Sprague, Raleigh Co., West Virginia.¹ Sonny Boy Herbert and Carolyn Sue Blankenship were divorced in November, 1957 at Raleigh Co., West Virginia.^5,6 Sonny Boy Herbert died on May 30, 2016 at Dayton, Montgomery Co., Ohio, at age 82.^2,3,4 He HERBERT, Sonny B. Passed away May 30, 2016 at Kettering Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. Sonny was born in Beckley, WV on September 24, 1933 to the late William and Goldie Herbert. Sonny's love for cars led him to his career as an auto mechanic. He worked for Shell Oil Company at the training service station on Far Hills Ave. as a station manager. He was also a service station owner until his retirement. Sonny was a very proud member of the U.S. Army where he served in Korea as a motor pool leader and instructor. Proceeding in death in addition to his parents, sisters, Garnet, Virginia and Betty; brothers, Charlie and William A; his loving son, Randy who passed away in August, 2015. Sonny will be sadly missed by his wife, Gloria; son, Steve; granddaughter, Brittany (Brian); great grandson, Tanner; and the Light of his life, great granddaughter, Harper. He is also survived by numerous family and friends. Burial will take place at David's Cemetery. on June 2, 2016.⁴

Born in Franklin, VA, she was a former resident of Carrsville, and worked as a millwright. She was predeceased by her mother, Brenda Joyce Vaughan Watley. Lisa Kay Blankenship Parker, 57, passed away February 2, 2020 in the Cancer Treatment Center of America in Newnan, GA. She was a daughter of the late Brenda Joyce Vaughan Watley and was also predeceased by a sister Carla M. Whaley. Lisa was an Administrative Assistant for the Law Office of Oast and Taylor. Left to cherish her memory are a daughter, Michelle Zanzig (John) of Texas; three sons Jeff Capps (Kristi) of Eure, NC, Kenny Lorah (Kari) of Virginia Beach, VA, and Dustin Parker (Meagan) of Sunbury, NC; her father Carlos Alonzo Blankenship; a fiancé James Crawford; and eleven grandchildren. He was a truck driver for Prillaman Chemical Corporation, Suffolk. He was a native of Nansemond County, Va. He is survived by his fiancee, Debbie Marie Reynolds; daughter, Christina Michelle Maddrey of Virginia Beach; three sisters, Shelby M. Tabor of West Virginia, Ann Maddrey of New Canton, Va., and Betty M. Carr of Suffolk; brother, Bobby Maddrey of West Virginia. He was predeceased by his parents, Rosa Pippins Maddrey and J. Gerald Maddrey; and a sister, Sandra M. Parker; and a brother, David Maddrey. A graveside service will be conducted in Holly Lawn Cemetery, Suffolk. on April 19, 1996.⁷

Mr. Combow was a long time resident of Belfast, VA. He was a retired Engineer, World War II Veteran and POW. He was awarded the Purple Heart and several other distinguished citations. He is preceded in death by his father William Combow, mother Claire Graham White Combow, one brother A.G. Combow, all from the Belfast community and one sister Alma Geraldine (Marvin) Tabor of Bristol, VA and the children's mother. Mr. Combow is survived by 7 children: Patricia (Larry) McReynolds of Bluefield WV, Beverly (Russell) Ansley of Port St. Lucie FL, Debbie (John) Woodroof of Lebanon TN, William White (Norma) Combow VII of White House TN, Edward Combow of Nashville TN, Joseph (Cheri) Combow of High Point NC, and Shawn Combow of Roanoke VA; 9 grandchildren: Chris McReynolds, Stephanie (Chris) Harman, Levi (Amber) Woodroof, Emiley (Brian) Friel, Matthew (Nicole) Tate, Paulina Combow, Portia Combow, Colton Combow, and Cameron Combow; and 7 great-grandchildren. He was a long-time active member of the VFW in Lebanon, VA and Board member for the American Ex-POWs'. He was also an active member in the VA Administration and an active speaker for the Veterans in Congress.Mr. Combow retired at his childhood home of Belfast VA in 1980. He dedicated his retirement years to community service such as planning and building the new Lebanon High School and the Lebanon Public Library, both in Lebanon, VA. Entombment will follow in Russell Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Lebanon, Virginia. Members of Casey-Shortt VFW Post #9640 will conduct Military Graveside Rites.
