His Social Security Number was 518-24-4363.9 Raymond Lee "Ray" Baker was buried at Normal Hill Cemetery, Lewiston, Nez Perce Co., Idaho.2,6 He was born on April 9, 1926 at Deary, Latah Co., Idaho.1,9,2,3,4,6 He married Carol Jean Beck on April 1, 1950 at Moscow, Latah Co., Idaho.5 Raymond Lee "Ray" Baker and Carol Jean Beck were divorced on February 2, 1954 at Clearwater Co., Idaho.10 Raymond Lee "Ray" Baker died on November 26, 2002 at Lewiston, Nez Perce Co., Idaho, at age 76.1,9,2,6 He Raymond (Ray) Lee Baker passed away from his battle with cancer into eternal peace Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston. He was 76 and a resident of Lewiston. He was born April 9, 1926, to Hazel and Clarence Baker in Deary. He lived there through his junior year in high school, when the family moved to Orofino. He graduated from Orofino High School in 1944, lettering in football. Following graduation he joined the U.S. Navy, attending basic training at Farragut, Idaho, and serving his country during World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1946, and had the surprise of coming home to a new baby sister, Linda, 19 years his junior. He spent several years logging in the areas of Bovill, St. Maries and Headquarters, Idaho. Perhaps his fondest memories were of working on the log drives and forming friendships with "Michigan Bill" and others. In 1958, Ray left the logging industry and moved to Los Angeles, where he started a new career with Trans World Airlines. He began as a ticket agent and ended as supervisor of overseas reservations. He had the opportunity to see many parts of the world; he played golf in Mexico and Scotland and took his parents on a tour of Europe and the Holy Lands. He retired from the airline in 1988 and returned to Lewiston to help care for his father. Ray led a phenomenal life. He was carefree, happy and always one for a good time. He made hundreds of friends during his life and once said that most all of his dreams had come true. He is survived by one daughter, Cindy, and his grandson, Michael. Also surviving Ray are his sister, Linda Nelson of Lewiston; nieces Kari Mackey and Shelly Scott, both of Lewiston; nephew Cody Nelson of San Antonio; great-nieces Tiffiny and Amitty Mackey, both of Lewiston; great-nephews Jordan Mackey, Tyler Nelson and Justin and Jessup Scott, all of Lewiston; and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. At Ray's request, cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Normal Hill Cemetery in Lewiston. The Rev. John Williams of Lewiston will officiate. on November 29, 2002.6
