He was born Oct. 31, 1913, in Peru, Ind. In 1937, at Macy, he married Alice Ross, who survives. They had lived in Plymouth the past 27 years. Other survivors are a son, Richard of Warsaw; his mother, Gertrude Gray of Akron; three grandchildren; four brothers, Edward, Robert and Garland, all of Akron, and John of Rochester; and five sisters, including Mrs. Katherine Benner of Warsaw, Mrs. Vivian Spence and Mrs. Lois Woolley, both of Akron, and Mrs. Mary Wise of Burkett. on June 10, 1973.9

Rochester St., Akron, died at 7:17 p.m. Tuesday in the emergency room at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana, Fort Wayne. Born in Denver, he was the son of Richard and Gertrude E. Sunday Gray. He lived in the Akron area since 1927, coming from Mentone and Miami County. He married Elizabeth Ann Arter on Jan. 14, 1942, in Akron, and she survives. Ed retired from Sonoco Products Co., Akron, in 1977 after 25 years there. He was the assistant plant manager in charge of production. He previously worked for True Temper or the Rittenhouse Company of Akron. He was stationed in Washington, D.C., as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II. During that time, he stood guard over President Roosevelt's casket in the rotunda in Washington, D.C. He was a member of Akron United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing and golfing. In addition to his wife, Elizabeth Ann Gray of Akron, he is survived by a son, Philip E. and wife Ivy Gray, Fort Wayne; a granddaughter, Holly and husband Ted Raney, Fort Wayne; a grandson, Brian and wife April Gray, Fort Wayne; three great-granddaughters, Aliya Raney, Gretchen Raney and Morgan Miller; a great-grandson, Wyatt Raney; three sisters, Mary Ellen Wise, Warsaw, Vivian Spence, Rochester, and Lois and husband Allen Woolley, Akron; a brother, Garland "Bud" and wife Shirley Gray, Akron; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Cora Katherine Benner; and four brothers, Richard O., Clifford, John W. and Robert Gray. Burial will be at Akron Cemetery, where graveside military rites will be performed by LeRoy Shelton American Legion Post No. 36 and Manitou Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1343, both of Rochester.3 He was buried at Akron I.O.O.F.
