He had been a student at Elm Road and Grissom schools, and was to be a senior this fall at Penn High School. He was born Sept. 22, 1973, in South Bend, and was a lifetime area resident. Surviving are his parents, Jim and Missy Bayer of Mishawaka; two brothers, Jamie and Paco, both at home; maternal grandparents, J.A. and Martha Jean Steele of Mishawaka; paternal grandparents, Fred and Madelyn Bayer of Frostproof, Fla; maternal great-grandmother, Irene Hinkle of New Carlisle, Ohio; and paternal great-grandmother, Margaret Bayer of South Bend. He was a member of Wakarusa Missionary Church, where he was involved with the youth council and puppet team. He was a member of Elm Road Softball League. He was active in sports programs sponsored by School Corp. He also was the assistant coach of the 1991 Grissom eighth-grade girls basketball team. Burial will be in Olive Cemetery. on August 10, 1991.3

     Timothy Gayl Austin was born on April 9, 1967 at South Bend, St. Joseph Co., Indiana.2 He died on August 3, 2016 at Corpus Christi, Nueces Co., Texas, at age 49.2 He It is with great sadness in our hearts that we announce that word has been received that Timothy Gayl Austin, 49, formerly of Niles, MI, currently living in Corpus Christi, TX, died on August 3rd of natural causes. Tim was born on April 9, 1967, in South Bend. Tim is survived by his mother, Darlene Hite, of Mishawaka, his father, Gayl (Carmen) Austin, of Corpus Christi, TX, sister, Christie Austin, of Edwardsburg, MI, and brother, Neal Austin, of South Bend. Also surviving Tim are his nieces, Amanda and Alyssa Pilarski, and nephews, Adam and Alexander Pilarski. Loving Aunts and Uncles, Joseph and Kathleen Cornelis, Gerald and Michaelene “Mickey” Lane, Joseph and Karen Heintzelman, and many other cousins and their families. Tim has passed from this life of pain and sorrow into the light and peace of his God, whom he sought during his life. As in his life, in his loving ways, he was an organ donor to help others. He will be greatly missed. on August 10, 2016.2
