Janet was born to her loving parents, Loyd F. and Florence M. (Searer) McMichael on July 14, 1942. In 1962, she married her husband, Richard L. Reames and moved to Berrien Springs, where the couple has resided for over 45 years. She was a 1966 graduate of Andrews University where she earned a bachelor of arts degree, student taught at the Berrien Springs High School and was certified by the State of Michigan as a secondary English teacher. She was a member of the American Association of University Women, the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was an excellent AVON representative and ranked in the top one percent of nearly 6000 representatives in the Michiana area for 26 years. God used her to work with, help and encourage a number of handicapped people because of contacts that she had by selling Avon. Her home and heart were open to help and nurture many young people that frequently stopped by. In the 11 years that she fought breast cancer, her husband never heard her complain or feel sorry for herself. She was always thankful for the caring doctors and nurses. In addition to her husband, Richard, Janet is survived by her brother, Michael K. (Rose) McMichael and their children, Todd McMichael, Shannon (Brad) Roupe, Laurie (Matt) Snipe and Anne (Don) Winner; her aunt, Eleanor McMichael and cousins, Dr. Fred (Linda) Busse, Bill Busse Jr., Shari (Bob) Lee, Maurice (Carol) McMichael and Gail (Tom) Ringleberg; and a sister-in-law, Sylvia (Norman) Schmid and her children, Mark and Shari. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her aunt, Lois (Bill) Busse; and three uncles, Leon (Mary) McMichael, Lyle (Eleanor) McMichael and Bill (Lois) Busse. Janet now has eternal life with our loving Heavenly Father and His precious Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. The earth has lost a very wonderful person. She will be terribly, terribly missed! On November 5, 2007.¹
