     Andrew Woods Walker The Walkers lived in Potts Creek and Union City, Virginia. Andrew and "Betsey" bought the home place on Peters Mountain from Isaac Handley. He was born on May 5, 1782 at Botetourt Co., Virginia.1,2 He married Elizabeth "Betsy" Handley, daughter of John Handley and Mary Harrison, on January 10, 1805 at Union, Monroe Co., Virginia (now West Virginia).2 Andrew Woods Walker left a will on July 29, 1861; I Andrew Walker of Monroe County and state of Virginia make this my last will. I give to my wife Elizabeth Walker my bedding and all the household affaires I have at her disposal forever. Next I direct if I have any property real or personal be where it may not otherways disposed of that be sold and I hereby vest in my Executor full power and authority to sell my real estate if any in my name for my benefit in as full manner in every respect as I could myself do if living and if I owe any past debts pay according to law--and after paying my funeral expenses, Divide the remaining part into twelve shares equal which I give as followeth. One of said shares to my wife Elizabeth Walker at her disposal forever in lieu of her dower at law-- one Do [ditto] to my sone Henry Walker-- one Do to my sone Andrew J Walker's children-- one Do to my sone Floyde M. Walkers sone and daughter-- one Do to Newton K. Walker & one do to my daughter Emmily H. Morris-- one Do to my daughter Mary H. Loudermilk-- one Do to my daughter Elizabeth M. Elmore-- one Do to my daughter Jane S. Farrier-- one Do to my dauter Melvina Richardson-- one Do to my dater Margaret Harvey's children-- one Do to my daughter Marthey Harveys children being the 12th and las of the sd. shares-- my sone John H. Walker & my sone Archibald W. Walker each has got from me what porsion I had allowed them previous to this time so I dont allow them any more & lastly I appoint Newton K. Walker executor for this my last will given under my hand this 29th day of Jul 1861. Andrew Walker The foregoing will was acknowledged by Andrew Walker in our presence and at his request we signed the same as witness At Monroe March Court 1865: A paper purporting to be the last will & testament of Andrew Walker decd. was produced in Court and there being no subscribing witnesses thereto the hand writing of the said Walker being proven by Samuel A. Clark & George Loudermilk who proved that the whole of the said paper was written by the said Andrew Walker the said Paper is thereupon ordered to be recorded as the true last will & testament of the said Andrew Walker decd. Whereupon Newton K. Walker the executor named in said will appeared in Court was sworn as executor and together with James M. Byrnside and Thomas J. Clark his securities entered into & acknowledged his bond in the penalty of $8000 with condition according to law. Probate of said will in due form is granted him. A Copy Teste G. W. Hutchinson Clerk.4 He died on December 10, 1862 at Monroe Co., West Virginia, at age 80.1
