She was born Jan. 8, 1926, in Ashland, the daughter of the late Russell Wilson and the late Nellie Simpson Wilson Wheeler. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dare Demere Roberson. She was a graduate of Ashland High School, worked at Sears Roebuck and was a member of Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church for approximately 55 years. She is survived by a son, Dare Randall Roberson and his wife, Glo Stidham Roberson, of Huntsville; a daughter, Beth Ann Barber and her husband, Jerry Barber, of Lake Worth, Fla; four granddaughters, Brooks Roberson Sasso and husband Allen and Megan Roberson Berstell and husband Jayme, all of Huntsville, Katy Barber and Chelsey Barber, both of Lake Worth; two great-granddaughters, Nellie Grace Sasso and Audrey Noelle Sasso, both of Huntsville; and a sister, Nancy Kay Wheeler Leach of Louisville. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014, at Miller Funeral Home in Ashland by the Rev. Mike Rice. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Allen Sasso, Jayme Berstell, Chris Grigsby, Simo Kukurik, Norman Rist and the Honorable Judge George W. Davis III. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent in Bessie's memory to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. on December 10, 2014.4
