His Social Security Number was 225-44-4665.6 Roscoe B. Craighead was born on August 3, 1902 at Floyd Co., Virginia.6 He Records filed at the Floyd Co. Virginia courthouse show that on Jan 17, 1944 Roscoe Craighead was found guilty of murder in the second degree, and sentenced to 10 years in prison. The sentence was then suspended and he was placed under the probation officer of Floyd Co. for 10 years. These records did not give any details as to what happened. Roscoe and one or more people were said to have gotten into a ruckus over Roscoe not selling more liquor to people who were already drunk resulting in the shooting according to the memory of people I have talked with. There may also have been teasing and threats made to Roscoe prior to the shooting. Court records states that the victim was Wilford Melvin Rierson.
