     Brenda Gail Hodges Brenda (Sissy) Gail Furrow, 72, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Friday, May 23, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and faith that will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew her. She was born January 6, 1953 to the late Cover and Pearl Hodges. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Walter Hodges; sisters, Irene McGuire, Gertrude Prater, Edith Wray, Nannie Holland, Peggy Hawks, and Louise Lynch. She is also preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law, Stafford and Bertha Furrow. Left behind to cherish her memory are her beloved husband Wray Furrow of 55 years; son, Tony (Loretta) Furrow; son, Jeffery Furrow; and her 4 grandchildren J.W., Paul, Angel, and Evan Furrow. Brenda held her sisters close to her heart: Joyce Hudson, Elizabeth (Blaine) Holcomb, and Maxine Weeks. She is also lovingly remembered by her in-laws Pat Harmon, Sandra (Joe) Blackstock, Goldie (Andy) Potter, and Calvin (Cyndi) Furrow. Brenda leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She was a lifetime member of Henry Fork Community Church. She was also employed at M & W and PlyGem for 43 years. Brenda loved her family fiercely, treasured her friendships, and found joy in the simple things—a good conversation, a cup of coffee, a beautiful day. She was a friend and “Nanny Furr” to many. She loved to go shopping, spending time with her grandchildren, sisters, and friends, being picked on by her sons, and riding around on the golf-cart with Wray and Tinker. She made everyone feel like they mattered, and her love will continue to ripple through the lives she touched. Interment will follow in Hodges-Lynch Cemetery.3 She was buried at Hodges - Lynch - Hall Cemetery, 941 Doe Run Road, Rocky Mount, Franklin Co., Virginia.3 She was born on January 6, 1953 at Franklin Co., Virginia.1,2,3 As of December 27, 1969,her married name was Furrow.1 She married Carlton Wray Furrow, son of William Stafford Furrow and Bertha Irene Whitlow, on December 27, 1969 at Rocky Mount, Franklin Co., Virginia.1,3 Brenda Gail Hodges died on May 23, 2025 at Virginia at age 72.3

     Danny Lee Burke was born on December 9, 1952 at Montgomery Co., Virginia.3,4,5 He married Mary Delilah DeHart, daughter of Mower Turner "Bill" DeHart and Virginia Dell Lucas, on September 30, 1978 at Floyd Co., Virginia.4,10 Danny Lee Burke and Mary Delilah DeHart were divorced on July 22, 1985 at Floyd Co., Virginia.5 Danny Lee Burke died on August 2, 2010 at Montgomery Co., Virginia, at age 57.6,7 He Danny Lee Burke, 57, of Floyd, Va., passed away on Monday, August 2, 2010. He passed peacefully while surrounded by many loved ones. He was preceded in death by his mother, Annie W. Dalton; and father, Sherman Lee Burke. Surviving are his one daughter, Jennifer and husband, Jason Gill; three brothers, Greg and wife, Sherry Dalton and children, Walker, Jamie and Beth; Mark Dalton, and children, Mark and Amber; David Dalton, and children, Leann, Logan, and Lauren; a great-nephew, Noah; two sisters, Tracy Newman, Diane Burke Yates, and children, Stephanie Yates, and children, Brittany, Jessica, and Matthew, Travis Yates and fiancée, Nikki Long; brother-in-law, Earl Yates; a cousin and special friend, Clint Carden and family; and numerous other family members, loved ones, and many employees became close friends with him at Auburn High School. Danny had a huge heart with plenty of room for many friends and always put friends and family before himself. You could catch him at the races or see him at the beach. His famous last words were "Maybe someday I'll win the lottery!" I guess in a way, he did win the lottery! He is with God now and forever at peace and sitting on the beach watching the sunset. He will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts. The family would like to thank all of the friends and loved ones that visited him while in the hospital. on August 6, 2010.7

     Gay Nell O'Quinn Gay Nell O'Quinn Henry, age 65, passed away peacefully on April 2nd, 2014. She was preceded in death by her parents James H. O'Quinn, Zettie Mullins O'Quinn, and her husband, Michael L. Henry. Although a native of Clintwood, Virginia, she lived the majority of her life in Roanoke. Gay Nell was an energetic, generous, loving, spirited woman who worked tirelessly to care for those she loved. For many years, she was a caregiver for her mother and her husband. As a Certified Nursing Assistant, she provided 25 years of service to South Roanoke Nursing Home. Many homeless cats were rescued, adopted, and loved by Gay Nell. Possessing a wonderful sense of humor, Gay Nell was a keen observer of human nature and a talented story teller. Her everyday experiences became hilarious anecdotes for the listener. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life: entertaining family and friends, sitting in the sunshine, cooking a delicious meal, walking along the seashore, and reading a good book with her cat curled up on her lap. Those left to cherish her memory include: one sister, Glenda Fulbright and husband Jim, of Johnson City, TN; one brother, Dennis O'Quinn and wife Ruth of Clintwood, VA; sister-in-law Rosemary Thomas and husband Ray of Buchanan, VA, and several nieces and nephews. Special cousins include: Prentice Mullins, Gerald and Joyce Ann Shortt, Roger and Joyce O'Quinn, and Eveleen Shortt. Dear friends include: Brenda and Douglas Swindall, Vella and Carroll Bowyer, Carol and Charles Caston, Ruth and Tom Casey, Mary and David Slusher, Neil and Julie Roberson, many special friends at South Roanoke Nursing Home, and kind neighbors Linda and Benny Gibson, and Derwin Hall.
