Samuel David Moran of Route 1, Check, died at the scene of the accident about 3:50 p.m., said state Trooper W.T. Hall. Moran was traveling west on Virginia 615 at high speed when he went into a slight, downhill curve, Hall said. He lost control and hit an oak tree about 12 feet off the side of the road. US Hwy 221, Copper Hill, Floyd Co., Virginia.⁵ She was born on June 14, 1930 at Franklin Co., Virginia.^2,6 As of August 2, 1947,her married name was DeWeese.² She married Virgil Thurman DeWeese, son of Trigg Preston DeWeese and Laura Ellie Bowles, on August 2, 1947 at Franklin Co., Virginia.^1,3,2,5 Virginia Irene Nichols died on May 30, 2008 at Virginia at age 77.^5,6 She Virginia Irene DeWeese, 77, of Copper Hill, went to meet her devoted husband of 56 years on May 30, 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thurman and son, Leon. Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Helen Turner and Diane and Charlie Hunt; grandchildren, Lisa and Randy Williams, Steven Hunt, and Kimberly Hunt; great-grandchildren, Bobby Hand, III and Travis Williams; special friends and neighbors, Posey and Rita Weddle.
