Martha Ellen Going, "age 22, daughter of James and Gabriella Going" was married November 26, 1890 to Thomas Albert Williams, age 23, by H. C. Cheatham, minister of the gospel, according to the marriage records of Campbell County, Virginia. Martha Ellen Going stated for the record that her parents were James and Gabriella. Mrs. Martha Ellen Going Williams, 94, of 629 Rose Ave., died at 2 p.m. Sunday at Taylor Nursing Home following a lingering illness. She was born in Amherst County, Aug. 2, 1867. Mrs. Williams death was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Albert Williams, and also by one daughter, Mrs. Albert Caproni. Two sons were killed in action in World War I, Roland Albert and Rayburn Edison Williams. She is survived by one son, L. H. Williams, of Clifton Forge, and two daughters, Mrs. Harry C. Deisher, Charleston, W. Va., and Mrs. Philip Schaffer, of Montgomery, Ala. Seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Williams was a member of Central Methodist Church, the Ladies Bible Class, and a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Services: The body will remain at the Nicely Funeral Home until time for the service which will be held from the chapel Tuesday at 2 p.m. The Rev. A. Irvin Orndoff will conduct the service and the interment will be in Crown Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be C. G. Kennedy, J. W. S. Burks, Russell Smith, Fred Sherman, C. M. Brown, E. C. Westerman, J. Ed Hall, Calvin Staton, and Herbie King. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Ladies Bible Class, the Legion Auxiliary, and friends of the family attending the service. on March 5, 1962.⁵

The greatest love of her life were her five special grandchildren, Chris Conner, Greg and Amanda Conner, Heather Hale, Brad Hale and Brian Perdue.
