He was a member of Enon Baptist Church and a mason. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Muriel Gearhart Bruce; sons, Edwin Dale Bruce, of Salisbury, N.C., Claude A. Bruce, of Lewisville, N.C., Michael L. Bruce, of Turkey Creek, K.Y. and Jan G. Bruce, of Salem; one brother, Roy Bruce, of Fla; sisters, Juanita B. Morris, of Roanoke and Dorothy B. Spencer, of Sebastian, Fla; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, September 26, 2000 at 2 p.m. at Summersett Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Trexler officiating. Interment will follow in Rowan Memorial Park with Military Honors conducted by the Rowan County Veterans Council. Friends may visit Monday, September 25, 2000 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Summersett Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Enon Baptist Church (1875 Enon Church Road, Salisbury, N.C. 28147) or Nazareth Children's Home (P.O. Box 1438, Rockwell, N.C. 28138-9985). on September 24, 2000.3

He is survived by his daughters, Linda (Bill) Lane of Peyton, Margie (Ray) Neff of Brighton, and Judy Brooks of Wheatridge; son, Jim (Paddy) Stiles of Laguna Niguel, California; sisters-in-law, Meta Stiles of Nelson, Nebraska, and Bonnie (Dick) Sandborn of Carson City, Nevada; brother-in-law, Ben Koch, of Arvada; nine grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. Obert; sisters, Mrs. Bonnie Sandborn, of La Habra, Calif., Mrs. Ardis Stiles, of Breighton, Col., Mrs. Wilma Chmn, of Hudson, Col. on August 16, 1967.8 She Word was received here Sunday night by relatives that Mr. and Mrs. Gene Nordbrock of Tuckson, Ariz., and a cousin, Bonnie Nordbrock of Minden, were killed when the private plane piloted by Gene Nordbrock, 35, crashed in the foothills of the Black Range Mountains in central New Mexico Saturday night. The Sierra County Sheriff's office said the plane apparently crashed in a thunderstorm. The plane was reported enroute from Dalhart, Texas to Tucson. The wrecked aircraft was spotted about noon Sunday. Mrs. Nordbrock, 39, is the former Betty Adamson, a graduate of Nelson High School with the class of 1946. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vernie Adamson who now live at Hudson, Colo., but formerly were residents of the Nelson community. Betty is the niece of Mrs. Roma Cannon and Mrs. Cecil Spurling. Mr. and Mrs. Nordbrock had visited in the Vernie Adamson home earlier last week. Survivors include Mrs. Nordbrock's three sons of a previous marriage, and Mr. Nordbrock's two sons also of a previous marriage. Mrs. Nordbrock's two sisters, (Ardis) Mrs. Woodrow Stiles of Brighton, Colo., and (Wilma Jean) Mrs. Archie Chinn of Hudson, Col. went to New Mexico after hearing of the crash and are now in Tucson where funeral services are being held at 10:00 a.m. this Thursday morning. on August 17, 1967.4

She was a charter member of the Friendship Extension Club and was a 4-H leader for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Dean Blevins, and an infant son, Richard James. She is survived by her husband, son, Kenneth Lynn, Gravois Mills, Mo., twins, Dwight Leonard, Seward, and Mrs. Dorrel Lipker (Dorothy LeAnn), Oak, six grandchildren, five great grandchildren, two sisters, Irene Blevins Melvin and Nora Blevins Wehrman, Nelson, and a brother, Don Blevins, Edgar. Caldwell and Rebecca Jane Hendricks, on June 15, 1889 at Oxford, Izard Co., Arkansas.5 Ida Jane Croom died on September 11, 1958 at Little Rock, Pulaski Co., Arkansas, at age 85.4,5 She Ida Jane Caldwell Taylor of Oxford, a daughter of the late Wiley F. and Jane Pearson Croom, was born February 22, 1873 at Caddo Gap, Arkansas and passed away at a Little Rock hospital September 11, 1958 at the age of 85 years, 6 months and 20 days. She was married at Oxford June 15, 1889 to Albert H. Caldwell, who predeceased her in death by 25 years, having passed away June 10, 1933. Mrs Caldwell was remarried in September of 1933 to Steve W. Taylor, who passed away March 14, 1958. The deceased is survived by seven children, two sons, Claude A. Caldwell of Melbourne and Adlai H. Caldwell of Kansas City, Mo; and five daughters, Mrs. O. C. Martin "Effie" of Oxford, Mrs. J. B. Ballard "Virgie" Calico Rock, Mrs. J. H. Stockton "Olive" Oxford, Mrs. Davis Patterson "Vera" Little Rock and Miss Ruby Jane Caldwell of Union City, Tenn. Other survivors include three brothers, Grover C. Croom, Little Rock, Adlai S. Croom, Searcy and Tom W. Croom of Texas; and two sisters, Mrs Susie Thompson, Kansas City, Mo., Mrs Anna Davis of Pasco, Washington. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She became a member of the Church of Christ when only a child of thirteen years of age and lived a true consistent Christian until the end. She was loyal and faithful companion of the home, a loving and devoted mother, a true friend and a kind neighbor, who will be greatly missed in her home, her church and the community. Most of her life was spent in Oxford and she had many friends here. Memorial services were held Sunday afternoon at the Oxford Church of Christ with Elder T. H. Sherrell officiating. Concluding services and burial were in the Oxford Cemetery under the direction of Carter Funeral Service of Salem. Casket Bearers were: Andy Hatman, Ivan Welch, Doyle Wayne Martin, Jimmy Caldwell, Gale Caldwell and Conner Ballard. on September 18, 1958.5
