Mr. Creger died of a heart attack Saturday at Keller Hospital at West Point Military Academy. He was born Oct. 5, 1921, at Oakhill, W.Va., and was a son of the late Leo C. and Ocie Shockey Creger. He had served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He worked for the U.S. Past Office and later worked for the Los Angeles Times for 35 years. He was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He moved to Harrisonburg three years ago and attended Asbury United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Lois M. Creger; two sons, Leo C. Creger III of Oxnard, Calif., and Phillip Creger of Mount Pleasant, S.C; a daughter, Christine Palmer of Prescott, Ariz; a brother, Robert Creger of Richmond; two sisters, Ruth Snell of Grottoes and Salena Winterbottom of Belton, Mo; and six grandchildren. on October 7, 1987.4

Creger, a World War II veteran and member of the Baptist church, had been employed at the FMC chemical plant in South Charleston. Survivors are his mother, Mrs. Ocie Creger of South Charleston; two sisters, Salena Weatherbottom of Charleston, and Mrs. Ruth Snell of Alaska, and three brothers, Charles W. of Scarbro, Leo Clyde of Lancaster, Calif., and Robert E. of Grottoes, Va. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Snodgrass Funeral Home at South Charleston with Rev. Leroy Keeney in charge. Burial will be in High Lawn Memorial Park at Oak Hill. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1 to 9 p.m. today. on September 3, 1971.2

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Yoshiko Shockey; his parents, Walter and Audrey Shockey; sisters, Mildred Smith and June Blackwelder; and brother, Lewis Shockey. Surviving are his son, Paul Shockey Jr. and Pam of Cross Lanes; daughter, Kay Little and Ray of Dry Fork; and sisters, Shirley King and Don of Richmond, Va., and Sarah Martin of Warner Robins, Ga. Paul had six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Paul was a member of Fairview Methodist Church, Tyler Mountain. Gathering of family and friends will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 13, at Tyler Mountain Funeral Home, 5233 Rocky Fork Road, Cross Lanes. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 14, in the funeral home chapel. The interment will follow at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens. on June 13, 2014.8

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Claude B. “Bun” Smith, to whom she was married in 1948; a brother, Lewis Shockey; and a sister, June Blackwelder. Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Keith Smith and wife, Marsha, of Beckley, W.Va; a grandson, Jarrod Smith and wife, Audrey, and their son, Jon, of Beckley, W.Va; a brother, Paul Shockey and wife, Yoshi, of Charleston, W.Va; sisters, Sarah Martin and husband, Calvin, of Georgia and Shirley King and husband Don of Virginia; and all her special family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley, with Ron George, Jr., officiating. Burial will follow at Huse Memorial Park in Fayetteville, W.Va. Friends may call two hours prior to the services at the funeral home. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers. The body will remain at the funeral home where friends may call after 1 p.m. today. on October 30, 1962.4

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, 1986, in Summers Funeral Home with the Rev. Jay N. Lorance presiding. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today, Aug. 6, 1986. Burial will be in the Dundas Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the American Heart Association. Mrs. Jones was born May 30, 1912, in Fayetteville, W.Va., the daughter of Charles and Margaret Mary (Yockey) Bickford. She married Hubert Jones March 19, 1932, in Logan, W.Va. and he preceded her in death May 7, 1984. Survivors include four daughters, Eldona Jones, and Kim Swick both of Newton; Shirley Pflaum, Noble, and Barbara Cox, Petersburg, Ind; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a grandson, a brother and a sister. on August 7, 1986.3
