     Opal Viola Masters FORREST - The funeral for Opal Austman, 98, of Forrest, was held Monday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Forrest, with Pastor Corrine Blissard officiating. Burial was in Forrest Township Cemetery, Forrest. A calling was held Sunday at Calvert & Martin Funeral Home, Forrest, and prior to the service Monday at the church. Mrs. Austman passed away at 8:55 a.m. Friday, Jan. 27, 2012, at Fairview Haven Nursing Home, Fairbury. Opal Viola was born Sept. 11, 1913, in Blue Earth County, Minn., the daughter of William Alvin and Ida Sophia (Reinke) Masters. She married Harry F. "Spot" Austman Sept. 11, 1945. He passed away in 1985. She is survived by one daughter, Teresa (Calvin) Strahm, Brodhead, Wis; one son, Jerry (Peg) Austman, Forrest; two grandchildren, Jeff (Dr. Kate) Austman, Forrest, and Gina (Dr. Gary) Hecht, Waunakee, Wis; five great-grandchildren, Hannah, Natalie and Jonathan Austman and Jocelyn and Ryan Hecht; one sister, Rosamond Zehr, Fairbury; one sister-in-law, Mildred Allen, Fairbury; and one special friend, Alice (Gerry) Gordon, Strawn. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Ruth Hippen and three brothers, Art, Floyd and Everett "Fritz" Masters. Opal grew up in Iowa and Wisconsin. Opal's mother passed away when she was 11 years old. Following that, she helped care for her siblings and was responsible for much of the cooking and household care. She moved to Forrest in 1930 and worked as a telephone operator and as a waitress. Opal was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Forrest. She lived her entire married life in Forrest. She moved to Fairview Haven Assisted Living and then to Fairview Haven Nursing Home the last few years of her life. She was appreciative of all the wonderful care that she received at Fairview Haven. She enjoyed and appreciated her life, her family and friends. She was always a proper lady and hostess and she would never let a visitor leave without offering something to eat or drink. Her hobbies included working crossword puzzles and playing cards, especially solitaire. She loved to travel and made many lasting friendships with the people she met. Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Forrest, or Fairview Haven Nursing Home, Fairbury.4 She was buried at Forrest Township Cemetery, Forrest, Livingston Co., Illinois.4 She was born on September 11, 1913 at Blue Earth Co., Minnesota.6,4 As of September 11, 1945,her married name was Austman.1 She married Harry Ferdinand Austman on September 11, 1945.1,6,4 Opal Viola Masters died on January 27, 2012 at Fairbury, Livingston Co., Illinois, at age 98.4

The son of the late Charlie and Delphia Trump, he was also preceded in death by a grandson, Lucas Martin Trump. He was a Veteran having served in the U. S. Navy from 1957 1961. He was a member of the Seneca Baptist Church and loved his family, racing, the outdoors, hunting and sitting by the fire.
