A long-time resident of High Point, NC, Ruby was born on August 28, 1928, in Ada, WV. Ruby was active in her community, participating in and helping to plan educational, self-help, and cultural events for fellow residents of the Wesleyan Homes and members of the Christian Singles group in High Point, NC. Prior to retirement, Ruby established a home-based child care center in which she loved and cared for neighborhood pre-school and primary school age children. Many of these children, particularly Kevin Adkins Wiley and Gregory Elks, stayed in touch with her throughout the years and became a part of her extended family. She also nurtured and mentored a number of her daughters' friends, particularly Regina Easter, and stayed in touch with them throughout their adolescence and adulthood. The daughter of Mae Lena (Brown) and Thomas Clopton Terry, Ruby married Charles Henry (Bill) Myers, now deceased, in 1945. Ruby is survived by her daughter, Jean Williams, of Lone Tree, CO; six grandchildren: Kelly Small, Jonathan Williams, John Cloud, Scott Cloud, Chris Cloud, and Jennifer Hart; and 11 great grandchildren: Taylor Cloud, Chisom Cloud, Teddy Smith, Austin Cloud, Tyler Cloud, Justin Cloud, English Small, Alex Small, Sylvia Williams, Kennedy Williams, and Zane Williams. Ruby was preceded in death by her daughter Sharon Marie Hart. Sproles, 80, of Colonial Garden Apartments, Bluefield, Va., formerly of Springville, Va., died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 1997, in a Bluefield hospital. She was born at Ingleside and was a daughter of the late James Terry and Virginia Garrison Terry. She attended the Springville Christian Church and was formerly employed at Kmart and Lemer’s Lady shop She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Garnett Sproles; two sisters, Francis and Hattie Terry, and one brother, Booker Terry. Survivors: son and daughter-inlaw, Jim and Gretchen Sproles of Madera, Calif; grandchildren, Rachel Case of Denver, Colo., and Jason Sproles of Dubuque, Iowa; great-grandson, Zachary Case. Graveside services will be held at the Grandview Memory Gardens on the Bluefield-Tazewell Road. on January 30, 1997.5
