He had been a resident of Raleigh County since 1932. He was employed by the Raleigh County Board of Education in the Maintenance Department for eight years and worked for the Goddard and Goddard Co. of Detroit Mich. Survivors include his wife, Masie Alley of Beckley; one son, Billy of Bristol, Pa; two brothers, George of Bristol and Frank of Mabscott; two sisters, Mrs. Kathleen Shuck of Croydon, Pa. and Mrs. Pauline Thompson of Bristol; and one grandchild. The body will remain at Melton Mortuary pending completion of arrangements. on February 9, 1962.6

She was in her 94th year. Born March 8, 1913, at Odd, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Arminta Ellen Lilly Meadows. Virgie was the oldest living member of the Church of God Family Worship Center in Beckley, where she was a past president of the Willing Workers Women's Ministry, and a Sunday School teacher. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Luther Everett Robertson in 1975 and Frank Alley in 1999; a son-in-law, Norris Terry; a great-grandson; six brothers, Leslie, Dawson, Clacy, William, Lacy and George Meadows; and 10 sisters, Vinnie Finley, Zettie Snuffer, Mary Ellen McKinney, Lottie McKinney, Rosie Alice Garretson, Ocie Logan, Josie Bolen, Lara Meadows, Charlottie Meadows and Nora Bolen. Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Kermit Robertson and his wife, Frances, of Jamestown, Tennessee; two daughters, Gladola Terry and her husband, Kendall, and Geraldine Terry, all of Lester; her grandchildren, Gene Terry, Wayne Terry, Janet Snuffer, Debbie Terry, David Terry, Linda Auxier, Kenneth Robertson, Judy Dunbar, June Blaylock, Alan Terry, Tom Robertson, Lisa Terry and Tiffany Terry; 21 great- grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Melton Mortuary Chapel with the Revs. Jesse Farley and Sam Peterson officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley. Friends may call 6 until 8 p.m. this evening at the mortuary and one hour prior to the service Tuesday. Grandsons and great- grandsons will serve as pallbearers. One of six children, Talmadge Grayson Alley was born on February 27, 1937, at Whitby, the son of Frank C. and Lois Manna Jones Alley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Nyla Maynard, and a brother, Mike Meadows. His sisters Patty Bennett of Massachusetts and Rebecca Williams of Oak Hill and a brother, Kenneth of Oregon, survive. Talmadge was a well-known and respected jeweler in the Beckley community. He owned and operated Talmadge's Jewelry for 30 years. He had been a police officer in the town of Mabscott and the City of Beckley. His interests included membership in the Beckley Moose Lodge where he was past governor. Talmadge always enjoyed attending and had many friends at the Moose. In addition to the Alley family, those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Lynn; he was the dear father of Sabrina Richardson and her husband, Tom, Sherry Whitely and husband Mark all of Beckley and Camden Alley of Avon Park, Florida; there are six grandchildren, five great grandchildren and four step children. On Wednesday, January 17th, at 1:00 pm there will be a "Service of Remembrance" at the Melton Mortuary Chapel. Pastor Ken Souder will be officiating. Talmadge will be laid to rest in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. His family and friends will serve as pallbearers. on January 15, 2018.3

Survivors include his wife, Blanche Radford Webb; a son, Robert Hensley (Hank) Webb, Dothan; three daughters, Mrs. Raymond Young, Fort Lee, Va., Mrs. Andrew Lively and Mrs. George Jones, both of Oak Hill; three brothers, George, Oak Hill, Nelson, Minden and A. C., Dothan; two sisters, Mrs. G. F. Clendenin, Oak Hill, and Mrs. Reed Smith, Richwood, and five grandchildren. The body will be taken from the Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill to the church an hour before the service. Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today. on November 12, 1965.5
