Rich, was found dead in his home here yesterday afternoon. A bullet from a police positive revolver, which was found on the floor at his side, had pierced his head. Coroner W. J. Shoemaker said on the death certificate that "death was caused while handling a police positive revolver." Robert B. Rich, the eldest brother, and his wife were the only persons in the house at the time, thought to have been around 3:30 o'clock, when the tragedy occurred. They were playing the radio but heard no shot fired. Later, a younger brother, Michael B., entered the house, and after going upstairs, returned to inform his brother that something had happened to Howard. Howard's parents and his grandmother, Mrs. Josephine Tyson, were in Lock Haven in the early afternoon. The brothers summoned A. J. Englert, neighbor, and an emergency call was sent to Dr. T. E. Teah, who found that life was extinct and notified Coroner Shoemaker. The fatal shooting took place in a small room on the second floor which contained hunting trophies and gun cases. Howard Rich, in June, had completed his Junior year at the Lock Haven High School. In addition to his parents and the brothers mentioned, he is survived by two other brothers, John , Jr. and James. Funeral services will be at the home Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, the Rev. H. T. Covert, officiating. Burial will be made at the Woolrich Cemetery. on July 6, 1936.³
