He is survived by his wife, Martha S. Stickler; one son, Thomas T. Strickler, Jr., both of Anchorage, Alaska; his parents Mr.& Mrs. W.T. Strickler, Roanoke; two sisters, Mrs. Richie L. Williams, Augusta, Ga; Mrs. Betty Jo Naber, Homer, Alaska; two brothers, Sidney W. Strickler, Charlotte, N.C; Larry W. Strickler, Franklin Grove, Ill. on August 26, 1983.4 He A Superior Court jury has acquitted an Anchorage man on grounds he stabbed his father to death last summer in self-defense. The jury deliberated about three hours late Wednesday before finding Thomas T. Strickler Jr., 23, innocent of the first-degree murder charge. Throughout the trial, the defense argued that the slain father, Thomas T. Strickler Sr., had provoked his son's attack. The defense said the case was a classic example of an abusive man who suffers a violent death at the hands of his victim. The younger Strickler's mother, Martha, told the jury that her husband had explosive rages that came without warning. She described a night in which her husband pinned her to the bed with the intent of killing her before she managed to escape. The prosecution argued that the self-defense claim was not supported by the facts. For example, the senior Strickler was unarmed when he was attacked and stabbed last Aug. 21, prosecutors argued. The younger Strickler did not tell police that he stabbed his father because he had feared his father intended to kill him. on February 17, 1984.7
