He was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church for many years and was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a well known professional painter for many years in the Roanoke Valley. He was predeceased by his parents, Ray and Annie Chattin; a brother, Bobby Chattin; and a sister, Ila Atkins. Survivors include his beloved wife, Lillian; and devoted daughter and son-in-law, Maxine and Billy McKee; stepsons and their wives, Donald and Sandi Eakin, Johnny and Jean Eakin; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters and their husbands, Colleen and Melvin Booth, Shirley and Donnie Etue all of Roanoke; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted from Oakey's Vinton Chapel at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 15, 1997 with the Rev. Carter L. Sloan and the Rev. Gene Arnold officiating. Burial with military honors by VFW Post 1264 will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. He will be deeply missed by all. Our thanks to the VA Medical Center and the Veterans Care Center for their care during his illness. on January 14, 1997.3

Graveside Service will be held 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 19, 2010, at St. Andrews Cemetery with the Rev. Msgr. Joseph P. Lehman officiating. A Memorial Mass will be offered 12:10 p.m. on Monday, July 19, 2010, at Our Lady of Nazareth Catholic Church followed by a Gathering of Family and Friends in the church reception hall.
