He is survived by loving wife of 48 years, Diane B. Elmore; son, Johnnie Elmore Jr; daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Keith Carr; granddaughter, Megan Pitts; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronald (Ronnie) and Mary Elmore, Robert (Bob) and Gene Elmore; sisters-in-law, Judy Elmore, and Jean Elmore (Charles' wife); numerous nieces, nephews and friends. A Graveside Service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Huffman Memorial Park with Pastors Chet Roden and Jerry King officiating.2 He was buried at Huffman Memorial Park (also known as Chestnut Grove Church Cemetery), Craig Co., Virginia.2 He was born on November 27, 1946 at Roanoke, Virginia.1 He married Diana Marie Bradley on August 30, 1971.3,6,9 Johnnie Melvin Elmore died on April 10, 2019 at Virginia at age 72.2

Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Jean Vass Elmore, of Covington; a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Susan Elmore of Clifton Forge; a son, Shane Elmore of Covington; six grandchildren; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Roger and Anita Elmore of Tecumseh, Kan., Ronnie and Mary Elmore of Vinton, Robert and Jean Elmore, and Johnnie and Diane Elmore, all of New Castle; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Marie and Lonis Smith of Salem, and Bettie and R. B. Combs of New Castle; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Judy Elmore of Roanoke; and a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. Elmore was preceded in death by one brother, Leonard "Bud" Elmore in 1998. The funeral service will be held Thursday afternoon at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home. Interment will be made in Cedar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive their friends Wednesday evening from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at Arritt Funeral Home. on January 20, 1999.2

Smith; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and John Mills; grandson, Zach Mills; brothers and their wives, Ronnie and Mary Elmore, Robert and Jean Elmore and Johnnie and Diane Elmore; sister and husband, Betty and R.B. Combs; and sisters-in-law, Judy, Juanita and Jean Elmore and Grace Devinney. Graveside Services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, February 12, 2005 at West View Cemetery, New Castle with Jim Morris officiating. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Paitsel Funeral Home Chapel, New Castle.
