     Fances Shaw "Fannie" Bechdel was buried at Liberty Baptist Cemetery, Blanchard, Centre Co., Pennsylvania.1,3 She was born on July 17, 1840 at Pennsylvania.1,4,2 As of November, 1858,her married name was Kunes.4 She married William Kunes, son of Samuel S. Kunes and Elizabeth Eleanor Chatham, in November, 1858.1,4,3 Fances Shaw "Fannie" Bechdel died on April 9, 1917 at Liberty Township, Centre Co., Pennsylvania, at age 76.1,2,3 She Mrs. Frances Shaw Kunes, widow of the late William Kunes, of Blanchard, died at 2:10 a.m. Monday, April 9, aged 76 years, 8 months and 22 days. Her demise followed general ill health for a considerable time past. She was a member ot the Disciple church of Blanchard since girlhood. Her chief characteristic was a kind and genial disposition, friendly to everyone and the enemy of no one. Her life was well suited to her church obligations. She had a large circle of friends and held in high esteem. She made her home with her daughter, Mrs. William A. Bowes, for a year and there passsed from this life. The folloving children survive: Campbell of Johnsonburg; Edward, of Erie; Albert, of Blanchard; W. Sheridan, of Corning, N.Y; Percy, Harry, and T. Milton, of Blanchard, and May, wife of W. A. Bowes, of Blanchard. A brother and a sister also survive, Mitchell Bechdel and Mrs. Samuel K. Spangler, both of Blanchard. The funeral services will be in charge of Rev. Walter L. Dudley, pastor of the Disciple church, and will be held at the home of Mrs. Bowes at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, with interment in the Baptist cemetery. on April 10, 1917.3

His survivors include three brothers and one sister, T. M. Kunes, Harry Kunes, Percy Kunes and Mrs. William A. Bowes, all of Blanchsrd, all of whom attended the funeral at Corning. on February 27, 1937.5

Spangler on November 26, 1887 at Blanchard, Centre Co., Pennsylvania.8,2,9 James Albert Kunes Blanchard's oldest man, James Albert Kunes, 87, died at 7 a.m. today at his home following a second stroke, which he suffered Friday. He had recovered from an earlier attack about 17 months ago, and had been able to be about his home as usual. Mr. Kunes was a farmer, and he and his wife had lived in their present home all of their married life. In his younger days had worked as a lumberman and scaler in the woods. He was a life-long resident of Blanchard. He was born Oct. 30, 1864, son of the late William and Frances Bechdel Kunes. He and his wife, the former Mary A. Spangler, were married nearly 65 yearsago. This is the first death in their immediate family. He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Tessie L. Kunes, and five sons: Ray W., Howard; Blair A., McKeesport; S. Dewey, of Lock Haven; Vance R., and Carl at home; also nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Two brothers also survive; Harry C. and T. Milton, both of Blanchard. on December 10, 1951.6 He died on December 10, 1951 at Blanchard, Centre Co., Pennsylvania, at age 87.4,6

Mr. Kunes had been spending winters recently with his son-in-law and daughter, Major and Mrs. Harold F. Stevenson, 9610 Sunderland Road, Silver Spring, Md. They left Blanchard about a month ago High School. Mr. Kunes suffered a heart at evening at the Stevenson home, according to word received here. He was admitted to Walter Reed Hospital where death ensued. Milton Kunes was one of ten sons in the family of William and Frances Bechdel Kunes. The brothers had one sister. He was born May 16, 1882 in Blanchard, and is the last surviving of the family. He retired from business several years ago and sold his goods at auction. An active Presbyterian Church member, he served as an elder and trustee, former pianist and organist at the Beech Creek church, which he attended. He belonged to Masonic bodies in Lock Haven. As a young man he attended Hiram College in Ohio, to take a business course. His wife, the former Marian Riddle of Pleasant Gap, died in December, 1946. His daughter, Jean, and one granddaughter are his only immediate survivors.

KUNES - Serviees will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Bechdel Funeral Home for Thomas Milton Kunes, 78, of Blanchard, who died Thursday, Oct. 13, 1960, at 9:30 a.m. at Walter Reed Hospital, Washington, D.C. The Rev Timothy W. Held will officiate. Interment, Baptist Cemetery, Blanchard. on October 14, 1960.6

Kunes, 81, who died Sunday at 10:40 p.m. at the Lock Haven Hospital Extended Care Unit was born here March 13, 1891, a daughter of the late Albert and Mary Spangler Kunes. She is survived by two brothers, S. Dewey Kunes, of Lock Haven, and Karl T. Kunes, Blanchard. She was a membr of the Blanchard Church of Christ. Miss Kunes had been employed as a housekeeper all her life. Nieces and nephews are her only other survivors. on October 17, 1972.3

Kunes, 74, of 17 Spring Street, Lock Haven, died Monday at 1:45 p.m. in Divine Providence Hospital, Williamsport. He had been a patient since October 16 and in failing health for three years. Mr. Kunes was a native of Blanchard, so of the late Albert and Mary Spangler Kunes. He came to Lock Haven 50 years ago and retired 9 years ago from a 20 year employment at the New York & Penna. Co. Before that he worked for the North American Refractories Company and earlier in life as a woodsman. He is survived by his wife, the former Gladys E. Probst; two sons and three daughters, Robert C. Kunes and Mrs. Pauline J. DeMarte, Lock Haven, William R. kunes, Avis; Mrs. Marjorie E. Poorman, Castanea, and Mrs. Barbara Sweetland, Mineral Wells, Texas; a brother Carl T. Kunes, Blanchard, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral Announcement - November 30, 1973, Cedar Hill Cemetery, Yost Funeral Home. on November 28, 1972.7
