     Bruce Strickler Harrison Mr. Bruce Strickler Harrison, 80, of Winston-Salem died Monday, January 12, 2009 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born January 3, 1929 in Winston-Salem, the son of the late, John Ruben and Ethel Strickler Harrison. Mr. Harrison was a lifelong member of Trinity Moravian Church. He had served as President of the Fellowship Class where every Sunday morning he told a joke. In 1964 he and his family moved to Kansas City, MO where he was a resident for 25 years before returning to Winston-Salem. He was a First Line Supervisor at Western Electric before his retirement. He was a member of ACBL and was an avid bridge player. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, John R. Harrison, Jr. . Survivors include his wife, Jacquelyn J. Harrison of the home; one son, David L. Harrison and wife, Carla of Atlanta, GA; one daughter, Jill H. Cox and husband, David of Gladstone, MO; one grandson, Richard Bruce Cox and one granddaughter, Caroline H. Cox both of Gladstone, MO; one sister, Janice H. Clodfelter of Winston-Salem and a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted Friday at 11:00 AM at Trinity Moravian Church with Rev. John Jackman officiating. Mrs. Harrison was a member of Trinity Moravian Church where she sang in the choir and played in the bell choir. She was a member of the International Champion Hallmark's Quartet and spent many years singing with the Sweet Adelines. She was an avid bridge player and teacher. Over the past few years she actively participated in activities at her home in Homestead Hills. Preceding her in death was her husband, Bruce S. Harrison. Surviving are a son, David Harrison (Carla) of Atlanta and a daughter, Jill Cox (David) of Gladstone, Mo; two grandchildren, Caroline and Richard Cox; brother, Slade Joyner (Kitty) of Charlotte; also surviving are several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, at Trinity Moravian Church with Rev. John Jackman officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Moravian Graveyard. Clodfelter, 74, of Winston-Salem passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2006, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Mr. Clodfelter was born in Forsyth County to the late Mr. Turner B. Clodfelter and Mrs. Martha Lanier Clodfelter Craver. He graduated from Gray High School in 1950 and then attended East Carolina University, as well as Wake Forest University. Mr. Clodfelter served in the Armed Forces during the Korean Conflict. He retired from AT&T. He was an active member of Trinity Moravian Church, serving as treasurer on the Board of Trustees for 40 years. In his younger years, he enjoyed being the manager of the Trinity softball team. Mr. Clodfelter volunteered his time with Meals on Wheels for 16 years. Mr. Clodfelter is survived by his wife of 54 years, Janice Clodfelter; a son, John V. Clodfelter, and wife Kathy of Cedar Point; a daughter, Marty Fort, and husband Hubert of Raleigh; five grandchildren, Tony Caddell, Christina Clodfelter and James Clodfelter of Cedar Point and Harrison Fort and Jessica Fort of Raleigh; two brothers, Bobby Clodfelter and wife Shirley of Burlington and Jim Clodfelter of Mocksville; stepsister Kay Swaim of Princeton, N.J; and several loving nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 29, at Trinity Moravian Church, with the Rev. John Jackman officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, July 28, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. With her giving nature, she volunteered every chance she could. She loved to garden, work puzzles, cheer for her favorite teams, and attend family activities. This wife, mother, grandmother and friend will be missed by all who knew her.
