     Barry Wayne Oliver Barry W. Oliver, January 6, 1960 - September 15, 2023. Barry Wayne Oliver, 63, passed away peacefully at home September 15, 2023 with his family by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents Lacy B. and Dorothy W. Oliver. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Janet Oliver, a son Andrew Oliver, and daughter-in-law Megan Oliver. He also has one sister, Darlene Oliver. Barry was retired from Old Dominion Security where he had a career of over 40 years. Barry loved his family and friends and was always there for them. He also loved his Jackshound, Sadie, and his granddog Max, who were always there to make him smile. Barry took pride in his garage, yard and vehicles and always kept them clean and in order. He liked hunting, fishing, and racing of any kind. One of his favorite things to do was to watch races and westerns on Sunday afternoons in the garage with his buddies. The family would like to thank UVA Medical Center and the Gentiva Hospice for the care he was given by them.⁴ He was born on January 6, 1960 at Roanoke, Virginia.^1,2,4,3 He married Mattie Sue Williams, daughter of Robert Eugene "Bobby" Williams and Joyce Ann Roop, on July 17, 1982 at Montgomery Co., Virginia.¹ Barry Wayne Oliver and Mattie Sue Williams were divorced on April 19, 1985 at Montgomery Co., Virginia.² Barry Wayne Oliver died on September 15, 2023 at Virginia at age 63.⁴

Burial will follow in Westminster Gardens. Born May 22, 1935, in Hinton, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Horace and Pearle Parker Rogers. She was a 1952 graduate of Hinton High School. Mrs. Iddings was a member of Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church where she was a frequent volunteer. She was the manager of H&R Block at Guilford College for 29 years but most importantly she was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Clay Rogers. Survivors include her husband, James William Iddings; sons, Michael Iddings and wife, Vicki, Kevin Iddings and wife, Julie, Jeffrey Iddings and wife, Penny, all of Greensboro; brothers, Neal Rogers and Clyde "Buck" Rogers; sisters, Patricia Anderson and Grace Blair; grandchildren, Kristin, Courtney, Cody, Jordan, Bryan and James William Iddings II. on September 8, 2002.⁴

     Mary Scott Garner was buried at Roselawn Burial Park, 103 Clearview Drive, Martinsville, Virginia.^3,4 She was born on May 5, 1917 at Skipwith, Mecklenburg Co., Virginia.^1,5,6,3,4 As of April 26, 1941,her married name was Jones.¹ She married Dempsey Miracle Jones Sr., son of Amos Harrison Jones and Lollie Mae Smith, on April 26, 1941 at Boydton, Mecklenburg Co., Virginia.^1,2,3,4 Mary Scott Garner died on April 2, 2006 at Martinsville, Virginia, at age 88.^5,7,3,4 She Mary Garner Jones, 88, of 71 Cherward St., Collinsville, Va., died Sunday, April 2, 2006 at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville, Va. She was born in Skipwith, Va. to the late Willie Garner and Vivian Bailey Garner on May 5, 1917. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, D. M. Jones, Sr; sister, Isabel Moore; and brother, Andrew Garner. Mrs. Jones graduated from Chase City High School, attended Radford University and received a B.S. Degree from Averett. Mrs. Jones was a teacher with the Henry County School System for 45 years. She was a charter member of Smith Memorial United Methodist Church where she was a past teacher of the Lucille Mann Sunday school class. She also was Chairperson of the United Methodist Women's Circle 3. and held many other offices at the church. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, D.M. "Butch" Jones, Jr. and Shirley Jones of Collinsville, Va; grandchildren, Leanne J. Holley and David Jones and his wife, Jennifer Jones; great-grandchildren, Tyler J. Brooks and Mackenzie Jones; nieces, Carrie Lee Drewett, Meredith Tuck and Barbara Griffin; and nephews, Edward Garner and Larry Garner. Interment will be at Roselawn Burial Park. on April 4, 2006.³

     Dempsey Miracle "Butch" Jones Jr. Dempsey M. Jones, Jr. "Butch," 78, of Collinsville, VA went home to his Lord on Sunday, December 19, 2021. He was the son of the late Dempsey M. Jones, Sr. and the late Mary Garner Jones. He was born in Bassett, VA on October 31, 1943. He was a graduate of Bassett High School and Patrick and Henry Community College. He was a longtime, faithful member of Smith Memorial United Methodist Church in Collinsville, VA. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Shirley Goode Jones of the residence; daughter, Leanne Jones Sykes (Aaron) of Collinsville, VA; son, David M. Jones (Jennifer) of Wilmington, NC; grandson, Tyler J. Brooks of Tulsa, OK and two granddaughters, Mackenzie Nicole Jones and Peyton Garner Jones of Wilmington, NC. Also surviving is his mother-in-law, Mildred T. Goode; aunt, Edith J.      Frank Albert Harris Frank Albert Harris, 81, of Fieldale, died Friday, Feb. 5, 2010, at his home. He was born Nov. 3, 1928, in Patrick County to William Thomas Harris and Bertha Cockram Harris. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, four brothers and a grandson. He worked for the Virginia Department of Transportation for 15 years and American Electric Power for 22 years. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Edith J. Harris of the home; daughter, Frances Ann Johnson of Fieldale; son, James "J.T." Harris of Fieldale; sister, Goldie Harris Roberts of Martinsville; and one grandchild.
