     Josephine Notchie was buried at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Bluewell, Mercer Co., West Virginia.2 Her married name was Sigmon.1 She married Arthur F. Sigmon, son of Mawyer Willard Sigmon and Lillie Dochia/Docie Cundiff.1,2,3 Josephine Notchie was born on October 8, 1920.1,4 She died on March 13, 2010 at Huntington, Cabell Co., West Virginia, at age 89.2,4 She LOGAN, W.Va. — Mrs. Josephine Sigmon of Logan passed away Saturday, March 13, 2010, at St. Mary's Medical Center. Jo is the beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and cousin of the Notchie (Ciento)-Sigmon family. She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur Sigmon, and his parents Mawyer and Lilly Sigmon of Narrows, Va; her parents, Philomeno and Carmella, and siblings Joseph, John, and Rocco Notchie of Elkridge; Patsy Notchie of Hillsville, Va; Mary Cosentino of Long Island, N.Y; Makina Murray of Baltimore, Md., and Polly Dials of Man, and grandson, Seth Sigmon of Spring Hill, Fla., and Chapmanville. Jo was a 1945 graduate of the St. Mary's School of Nursing. She spent her life devoted to her family and to the care and healing of others. During her career she served as a nurse at St. Mary's Hospital, Cabell Huntington Hospital and Steven's Clinic Hospital in Welch. She also served as Nursing Director at the Man Appalachian Community Health Foundation Clinic and the Logan County Health Department. She was a past member of the WV State Nurses Association, the WV Public Health Association, the WV School Nurses Association and the National Red Cross Association where she was a past Chairperson of the WV Chapter. Jo was a teacher in the Practical Nursing program at the Logan Vocational Center. She was on the Holland Apartment Condo Association Board. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Logan where she served on the Altar Society, Parish Council and as a Sacristan. Jo is survived by son Bill and Debbie Sigmon, grandchildren Shade of Grayson, Ky., Shayne Sigmon and Sherri Pennington of Huntington, and Stacy Grimsley and great-grandson Anthony of Spring Hill, Fla; daughter Sue Austin of Wesley Chapel, Fla., grandson Jeff and Jen Austin and great-grandchildren Max and Miles of Tampa, Fla., grandson Jay and Katie Austin and great-grandchildren Logan, Lilyana and Leilani of Spring Hill, Fla., and granddaughter Ashleigh and Daniel Shuford and great-granddaughter Phoenix of Asheville, N.C; and daughter Sandra and Bill Saunders of Huntington, grandson Bill and Stephanie Saunders of Martinsburg, granddaughter Amy and Kurt Geveke and great-grandchildren Noah and Carter of Huntington, granddaughter Elizabeth Saunders and Mike Morgan of Huntington, and granddaughter Susie Saunders and Craig Seaman of Pittsburg, Pa.. Jo is survived by cousin Katie Albanese and family of Odenton, Md; sister Makina's family from Baltimore, Md; brother Larry Notchie and family from Bronx, N.Y; brother Fred and Edith Notchie and family from Logan and Hialeah Fla; Al Cosentino and family from Long Island N.Y; Bob and Donna Sigmon and family of Port Charlotte, Fla., Helen Notchie and family of Hillsville, Va., Gail Sigmon and family of Burke, Va., and St. Albans and Jean Atwell and family of Narrows, Va. Mom's wonderful gifts, love, smile, generosity, humor and kindness will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her. The family sincerely appreciates the wonderful care of the medical staff and pastoral care services at St. Mary's Medical Center, Cabell Huntington Hospital and Home Health Services. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 19, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Logan. Public viewing will be held from 10-11 a.m. with a requiem mass following. Interment will be at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens at Bluewell after 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the St. Francis of Assisi Church Building Fund 561 Main Street Logan, WV 25601. on March 17, 2010.2
