Rookie graduated from Concord College, West Virginia subsequently earning his masters degree from the University of Houston in education. Prior to coming to the U of H he was the basketball coach at South Texas junior college. Then he became the intramural director and assistant athletic director at the University of Houston (1964-2002). He was also an active member of the community and a member of the American Legion Post #490, A Navy veteran of WW II and the Korean war, a member of the local advisory committee for Addie Wiseman, former President of the Super Neighborhood Ellington Area, President of the Beverly Hill Civic Club, member of P.I.P and an active member of C.O.P.S. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 25 years: Carolyn Dickenson, children: Jan Davidson and her husband Steve, Jenny Dickenson, Roger Merrill and wife Rosalie and Candy Merrill. Grandchildren: Heather Burdeaux and husband Joel, Timothy Davidson, Nathan Davidson, Sarah Merrill and Samantha Merrill, great-grandchildren: Arabella Burdeaux and Holden Burdeaux. Born October 22, 1952 in Princeton, he was a son of Eva Pack Young Thompson of Glenwood Park and the late Alvin Eugene Thompson. He had been a resident of Princeton all of his life and was a carpenter. Survivors include one daughter, Alesha Williams of Princeton; one brother, Owen Young of Elgin, S.C; four sisters, Marie O’Donnell of Montcalm, Eva Mitchel of Cashmere, Lillie Murphy of Princeton and Margaret Austin of Ronceverte. She was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church in Glenwood and was preceded in death by six brothers and one sister. Survivors include her husband, James "Jack" Thompson Sr. of Princeton; children, Patricia May Caldwell and husband Donald, Karen Faye Thomas and husband Robert, and James Thompson Jr. all of Princeton, and Janet Gaye Barbour of Huntersville, N.C; sisters, Mary Collins of Charleston, Margaret Cole and Emma Beckner both of Princeton; grandchildren, Angela Broome, David Barbour, Amanda Truman, James Thompson III, Jesse Thompson, and Keith Thomas; and great-grandsons, Jonathan Broome and Anthony James Truman. Burial will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens on the Courthouse Road in Princeton. on July 8, 2003.³

     Donald Lee Caldwell was buried at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Courthouse Road, Princeton, Mercer Co., West Virginia.^4,5 He married Patricia May Thompson, daughter of James Jackson "Jack" Thompson Sr. and Shirley May Beckner.^1,2,3 Donald Lee Caldwell was born on July 30, 1953 at Princeton, Mercer Co., West Virginia.⁵ He died on November 30, 2017 at Princeton, Mercer Co., West Virginia, at age 64.⁵ He Donald Lee Caldwell, 64, of the Old Athens Road, Princeton, died Thursday, November 30, 2017 in Princeton Community Hospital. Born July 30, 1953 in Princeton, he was the son of Courtney Harmon and Georgia Lee Caldwell. Donald worked for Exxon-Mobil as a truck driver and worked as a terminal operator. Donald was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother. He will be remembered for his love of God and Country, his commitment to the Bus Ministries, always wanted to make sure everyone had the opportunity to get to church. While his health permitted, he enjoyed camping and fishing with his family and friends. He especially loved going to the Outer Banks with all of his family. He was a member of the Maranatha Baptist Church in Princeton. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his loving wife Patricia May Thompson Caldwell; One Loving Daughter, Angela Broome and husband William of Charlotte, NC; Two very special grandchildren whom he loved dearly Jonathan and Noah Broome. One brother, Ronnie Caldwell and wife Carolyn of Newton, NC; One sister, Jean Midkiff and her husband Doug of Princeton; And his in-laws, Paul & Karen Thomas, Derrick & Janet Benbow along with a host of nieces and nephews. Entombment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. on December 2, 2017.⁴

     James Jackson Thompson III was buried at Bethel Cemetery, Princeton, Mercer Co., West Virginia.³ He James Jackson "Jamie" Thompson III, 36, of Princeton died Thursday, October 11, 2018 from injuries received from an auto accident on the WV Turnpike. Born May 29, 1982 in Princeton, he was the son of Janice Mae Wyrick Thompson of Princeton and the late James Jackson Thompson Jr. Jamie was self employed as a building contractor, he loved working with his hands. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandfather Willard Wyrick and his girl-friend Brooke Helmandollar, whose life was taken in the same accident. In addition to his mother Janice, he is survived by his daughter MacKenzie (Kenzie) Thompson and a brother Jesse Thompson, and his grandmother Lena Wyrick.
