Surviving in addition to his mother are one daughter, Mrs. Shirley Meadow of Rich Creek, Va; two sons, Arven Neely and Arnold Ray Neely, both of Pearisburg; one sister, Mrs. Louise Eagle of Las Cruses, N.M; six brothers, Virgil Neely of Pearisburg, Leslie Neely, Earsel Neely, Marvin Neely and Junior Neely, all of Rt. 4, Princeton, and Kenton Neely of Oceana; and seven grandchildren. Burial will follow in the Neely family cemetery on Adair’s Run. on April 26, 1977.7

     David Joseph Neely was buried at Neely Cemetery, Adair’s Run, Mercer Co., West Virginia.3,7 He was born on February 10, 1922 at Mercer Co., West Virginia.3,7,4 He died on September 17, 1950 at Hales Gap, Mercer Co., West Virginia, at age 28.3,7,6 He An investigation into the death of David Neely, 27, of Hale's Gap, on the Virginian Railway track at Hale's Gap is being investigated by Sheriff C. C. Elmore, states police and Virginian agents. Train No. 3, west bound passenger, ran over the body at about 9:50 o'clock Sunday morning. There was little blood and the body was stiff. The skull was broken, and part of an elbow had been ground off. The body was taken to Fredeking-Seaver mortuary for examination. Dr. Frank Holroyd being called by Sheriff Elmore to approximate the time of death. Witnesses questioned reported that Neely left Ellis Pennington’s drive-in about 10:30 o'clock Saturday night. He left his truck near the drive-in. The body was found on the tracks located on an embankment east of the highway in front of the drive-in. Neely was a veteran of World War II. He leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Neely, two sisters, Irene Neely and Louise Eagle, seven brothers, Virgil, Leslie, Earsel, John, Marvin, Junior and Kenton Neely. They reside at Hale's Gap and their mail address in Glen Lyn, Va. on September 18, 1950.6

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Harry Neely of Oakvale; one son, Harold E. Neely and his wife Paulette of Adair’s Run; two daughters, Janice M. Steele and her husband Lendell of Oceana and Nancy Williby and her husband Jerry of Adair’s Run; one stepson, Donnie Williby and his wife Angie of Youngsville; two brothers, Kenton Neely and Pete Neely, both of Oakvale; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Entombment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Princeton. on May 4, 2000.9

Kenton was a very active member of the Oakvale United Methodist Church and had lived most of his life in the Oakvale area other than living in other cities while working. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in World War II. He was preceded in death by seven brothers and two sisters. Survivors include his wife, Helen Thompson Neely of Adair's Run; one son, Roger K. Neely and wife Ginger of Princeton; two daughters, Judy Ann Perdue of Adair's Run and Peggy Sue Graham and husband Stephen of Oceana, W.Va; five grandchildren, Chatman Neely, Tammy Weatherly and husband Bobby, Rhonda Sevy and husband David, Linda Chinault and Stephanie Dixon and husband Roy; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one brother, Marvin "Pete" Neely of Oakvale. Born April 22, 1931 at Adairs Run, he was the son of the late James C. "Jack" Neely and Effie Deweese Neely. He was retired from the maintenance department at Fairchilds, Inc. in Glen Lyn, Va. He was one of the founders and faithful members of the Gospel Light of Faith, Kellysville. When Pete's health permitted he was always at the church early to open up and see that everything was in order for the service. Recently he was presented a certificate for being a charter member and for his longevity as a trustee of the board. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, JoAnn Rose Neely; one son, David E. Neely; one grandson, Steven Michael Neeley; eight brothers and two sisters. Survivors include his wife, Jane Evans Neely of the home; four sons, Marvin E. Neeley and wife Linda of Princeton, Jimmy Neeley and wife Deea of Hebron, Ky., Bobby Neeley and wife April of Charlotte, N.C. and Michael Neeley of Oakvale; one daughter, Marie Brown and husband Mark of Princeton; step-children, Blake E. Walkup, Orlando, Fla., Brian Walkup of California, Rebecca Walkup of Rich Creek, Va., Brad Walkup of Abingdon, Va. and Renee Walkup of Princeton; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and ten step-grandchildren. Pete was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Interment will follow at the Neely Family Cemetery, Adairs Run, Kellysvlle. on December 22, 2012.5

Born February 4, 1943, in Pearisburg, VA, he was the son of the late John C. "Shorty" Neely and Lucille Martin Tippen. He retired from the Celanese Corporation in Narrows, VA, after 35 years of service in the spinning department. He was a member of Oakvale United Methodist Church in Oakvale. Arven was an avid outdoorsman and loved tending to his cattle. He had been a lifelong resident of the area. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Ed Tippen. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Doris Neely of the home; one daughter, Teresa Lucas and husband Dwight of Woodstock, GA, one son, Arven Lee Neely, Jr. and wife Valerie of Union, WV; four grandchildren, Christopher Lucas, Chrissy Wilburn, Chyanne Neely, and Jessica Neely; one great-granddaughter, Dezeria Neely; one great-grandson, Alexander Palmer; one sister, Shirley Meador of Pearisburg; one brother, Arnold Ray Neely of Pearisburg; one special aunt, Helen Neely of Adairs Run; two special nieces, Kathy Ballard and Betty Jo Atkins; and several other nieces and nephews. He had fought a hard short battle with cancer. Mr. Meador was born on October 13, 1940, in Pipestem, W.Va., and was the son of Ernest and Grace Petry Meador. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Cassie Carol Eaton and Frances Meador; and two grandsons, R.J. Meador and Grant Meadows. Buzzie was retired from Celanese Corp. with over 37 years service. Buzzie was a loving husband, father and Paw Paw. He loved going to his cabin on the mountain close to Pipestem, W.Va., taking long walks thru the woods and watching and taking pictures of the deer, turkey and bears. He wrote most of his poems while at the cabin. He leaves behind his wife, of 53 years, Shirley Neely Meador; one daughter, Sandra Wilson and husband, Eddie; two sons, John Meador and wife, Wanda, Ronald J. Meador. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Arven in June 2015, and a niece Tammy Ellison July 1981. Left to cherish her memory, her caregiver and best friend Paulette Neely of Oakvale, a sister Louise Ellison of Lindside, Nephew Steve Ellison and wife Sharon of Lindside, 2 nieces Kathy Ballard and husband Phil, and Betty Jo Atkins and husband Ernie all of Union, WV. Several great nieces and nephews. She loved to travel, and she especially enjoyed seeing the beautiful sites of Hawaii. Doing yard work and having an immaculate lawn and landscape was very important to Sarah. She loved her family dearly, and she especially cherished her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She also loved her church family and was a member of the Crimson Springs Church in Zenith, WV for over 40 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Husband of 33 years, Carl Neel; and several brothers and sisters also preceded her.
