Funeral services will be conducted from Oakey's Vinton Chapel at 1 p.m. Thursday, October 14, 1999 with the Rev. Bradley M. Griese officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at Oakey's Vinton Chapel where family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. on October 14, 1999.5

She has eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Laura was well known in the Mullens community for her cooking talents. She operated Laura's Coffee Shop for many years and was proud to serve President Kennedy. She also cooked at Bud and Henrys and the Pizza Mart. Laura loved children and she was the first foster grandparent at Mullens Grade School. Burial will be at the Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, WV. The family would like to extend gratitude to Dr. Wisman, Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital Intensive Care Unit, and the Bowers Hospice House. She was born October 26, 1931 in McComas, WV and was the daughter of the late John and Pearl Austin Smith. She served alongside her husband as a faithful minister’s wife for over 31 years. She taught Sunday School for many years and was active in Women’s Ministry. She was a past volunteer at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center in Ronceverte, WV. She attended the Community Pentecostal Holiness Church in Lewisburg. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Rev. Russell E. Spence. Also preceding her in death were three sisters, two brothers, two sons-in-law, Rev. Emory Brackman and Lewis Weeks and a grandson, Stephen Brackman. She is survived by her children, Clinda Joy Weeks of Covington, VA and Sandra (Everette “Hat”) Defibaugh of Lewisburg, WV; two grandchildren, Elizabeth DeVito (Ray) of Smithton, PA and Jonathan Brackman of Covington, VA; four great grandchildren, Andrew and Amber Brackman of Sevierville, TN and Julian and Ellie DeVito of Smithton, PA. Also several nieces and nephews. Burial will follow in Rosewood Cemetery in Lewisburg, WV. The family would like to thank the staff of Stonerise in Lewisburg for their care and compassion to her.6 She was buried at Rosewood Cemetery, Lewisburg, Greenbrier Co., West Virginia.6 Her married name was Spence.2 She was born on October 26, 1931 at McComas, Mercer Co., West Virginia.5 She married Rev. Freda was devoted to family and friends. She worked in healthcare, taught Sunday School, loved serving God, and held steadfast to her faith. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor T. Michael Bond and Pastor Chad E. Dunford officiating. Interment will follow in the Memorial Gardens of the New River Valley, Blacksburg. Her family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home 150 Country Club Dr. SW, Blacksburg. In lieu of flowers, her family requests that monetary donations be given to help pay for medical expenses. on April 24, 2017.5

     Ercil Hylton Poff was buried at Sherwood Burial Park, 1045 Lynchburg Turnpike, Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia.4 He was born on September 14, 1934 at Floyd Co., Virginia.8,4 He married Christine Louise Walters, daughter of Leonard Lee Walters and Cora Lee Smith, on October 28, 1955 at Roanoke, Virginia.1,3,9,8,4,10 Ercil Hylton Poff died on June 7, 2019 at Rocky Mount, Franklin Co., Virginia, at age 84.4 He Ercil Hylton Poff, 84, of Salem, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2019 in Rocky Mount, Va. He was born on September 14, 1934 in Floyd, Va. to the late Sherman Rosco and Mamie Bell Poff. Ercil had retired from Lowes Lumber and Hardware after 30 years of service, as well as the Virginia Department of Transportation after 20 years of faithful service. He was last working with Walmart of Salem as a greeter with 10 years of service. He thoroughly enjoyed traveling and hunting, but will be remembered most as a loving husband, brother, and friend to all that knew him! In addition to his parents, Ercil was preceded in death by his sister, Freda Louise Grubb. Family remaining to cherish his memory includes his wife of 63 years, Christine Walters Poff; brothers, Hansford R. Poff (Trudy), and Vestal E. Poff, and fiancée, Ruth Snead; and numerous nieces and nephews. Burial will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park; Salem, Va. on June 9, 2019.4
