Mr. McBride was born December 14, 1922 in Draper, NC, son of the late Charlie Lee and Tida Gertrude Hall McBride. He was a World War II US Navy veteran and a proud member of the Navy Seabees. Mr. McBride served in the South Pacific and other islands during his tours of duty. On September 18, 2010 he was on the Triad Flight of Honor to Washington, DC with other World War II veterans. He was a retiree of E. I. DuPont in Martinsville, VA. Mr. McBride was a member and deacon of Sardis Primitive Baptist Church in Madison. He is survived by his wife of almost 64 years, Charlotte Thomas McBride of the home; two daughters, Denise Hill of Eden and Linda Lipford of King, NC; three grandchildren, Sandy Stroud, Kevin Lipford and Kory Lipford; two great-grandchildren, Ryan and Peyton Todd; and brother, Evenor "Mac" Lee McBride of Stoneville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Arlie O'Neal "Feet" McBride and James T. She was stationed at Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia and worked at the Army hospital (Finney General) at Thomasville, Georgia where she attained the rank of sergeant. After WWII she married and moved with her husband to St. Paul where they raised two children. She was a tireless and extremely efficient worker in all the tasks she undertook and ran her household in the same organized manner. Her Southern charm combined with her kind and generous nature made her an understanding and sympathetic listener. People and animals were drawn to her. Lillian was a quick study and a master at checkers, card games, puzzles and word games. She loved to travel and prided herself in visiting all 50 states, Canada, and Europe. Lillian is preceded in death by her husband Robert, her son Robert, 7 brothers and 3 sisters. She is survived by her daughter Caroline, her daughter-in-law Mary, grandchildren Kevin, Melinda and Scott, four great grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces. Many thanks to Allina Hospice Care which provided loving care, and most importantly, the ability to live the last year of her life with her daughter. on August 30, 2015.4

The body has been taken to Dodd-Payne Funeral Home here, where arrangements have not been made. on October 9, 1976.6

Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. on April 8, 2000.1
