His love for nurturing the outdoors was evident in his joy for planting flowers and tending to gardens in all four seasons. An avid collector, Bob had a particular enthusiasm for antiques, firearms and Christmas decorations. Bob also reveled in the challenges of golf. However, it was his special love for the Christmas season that shone through, a sentiment he lovingly passed on to his four children. The holidays held a special place in his heart. Those left to cherish Bob’s precious memory are his devoted children: Ann Bailey (Greg Rhodes), Sherry Schaaf (James), Todd Bailey (Stephanie), and Brandie Bailey (Jason Crouch). His memory will also be deeply cherished by his grandchildren: Cameron Bailey, Alexis Schaaf, and Caleb Bailey, as well as his beloved sisters, Shirley Williams and Margie Lyke. Bob's appreciation for music was another cherished facet of his life, enriching the moments he spent with family and friends. As we celebrate Bob's life, let us remember the man who found joy in the simple pleasures, whether nurturing the outdoors, collecting antiques, or sharing the magic of Christmas. May his memory continue to bring warmth and inspiration to all who knew and loved him. A graveside service to honor Bob's life will be held at Mt. View Cemetery in Vinton. The family would like to thank the caregivers of Runk and Pratt, Good Samaritan Hospice and Rosetta Hight for the special care they delivered to Bob over the last few months. Davis, Mrs. Henry Glass and Mrs. N. D. Seldomridge, and two sons- Messrs. Perry and Harrison Lawrence, of the Hinton Construction Co. Burial will follow in Hill Top cemetery. Mrs. Lawrence, since girlhood had been a faithful member of the Baptist church. She was & very estimable women and lived a consistent Christian life. Her death, which was rather sudden, was a shock to her family and many friends. on June 3, 1920.7

     James David Iddings James D. Iddings, born in May 1842 in Floyd County, Virginia and died April 8, 1902 (1903) in Renton, Washington. He was one of the few who served first in the Confederate Army, and late in the Civil War he enlisted as a Union soldier. At the age of 19, James enlisted first on September 10, 1861 in Floyd County, Virginia as a private in Company A of the 54th Regiment Virgina Infantry. He was hospitalized in September 1863. On May 24, 1864 he was taken prisoner in Dallas, Georgia; and was listed as a prison of war (POW) between May 24 and October 17, 1864 at Rock Island, Illinois. When he was released from prison on October 17, 1864, James enlisted in Company E of the 3rd Regiment Infantry, Regular U.S. Army, at Rock Island, Illinois, and he was mustered out of Federal service on November 29, 1865 in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. On November 9, 1894 in the state of Washington, James filed for a pension based on his Civil War service. He was listed as an invalid at the time. On February 1, 1866, in Floyd County Virginia, James married Rebecca Sumner (1829-1930) and the coupled had ten children. In 1880 James Idding's occupation was listed as farmer, on Alum Ridge, Floyd County, Virginia. In 1900 he lived in the Springbrook Precinct, near Renton, Washington.6 He was buried at Saar Cemetery on a knoll, later reinterred in Hillcrest Burial Park, 1005 Reiten Road, Kent, King Co., Washington.3,8 He was born on May 10, 1842 at Montgomery Co., Virginia.10,4,8 He married Rebecca Sumner on February 1, 1866 at Floyd Co., Virginia.4,5,3,6,11 James David Iddings died on April 9, 1903 at Springbrook, King Co., Washington, at age 60.3,8,12
