He was a lifetime member of Mount Union Church of the Brethren in Bent Mountain, VA. He was a man of God, who maintained a moral compass throughout his life. John was the ultimate truck driver for 37 years working with various companies lastly being Hatchett Transportation Inc in Bassett, VA. John was a United States Army Veteran. He was a loving, caring and devoted brother, husband, father and grandfather. John was a good friend to all. John could light up a room with his stories and songs. The world has lost one of its great voices and storytellers. John had a beautiful singing voice and will now be entertaining his loved ones in Heaven. John is preceded in death by his father Albert Harvey Poff, Sr and mother Lela DeWeese Poff of Bent Mountain, VA. John leaves behind wife of 34 years, Sue C.
