     Phyllis Ann Chittum was buried at Mountain View Cemetery, 1300 Mountain View Road, Vinton, Roanoke Co., Virginia.³ She was born circa 1944 at Bedford Co., Virginia.⁴ She married Thomas Wayne "Tom" Sweeney, son of Major Lee Sweeney Sr. and Margaret Marie Powell, on March 17, 1961 at Henry Co., Virginia.^1,2,3,4 As of March 17, 1961,her married name was Sweeney.⁴ Phyllis Ann Chittum died on June 19, 2016 at Virginia.³ She Phyllis C. Sweeney, 73, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, June 19, 2016. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Wayne Sweeney; parents, Howard and Ollie Chittum; brothers, Franklin, Roy, and Leon Chittum. Phyllis dearly loved her family and cherished her grandchildren. She previously worked for SAV-A-STOP and attended Emmanuel Baptist Church. Phyllis is survived by her children, Wayne Sweeney, Janet (Donnie) Dodson, and Teresa Sweeney (J.B.); grandchildren, Zackery and Justin Dodson; stepgreat-granddaughter, Gwen Sutphin; sisters, Cora Lee (Lloyd) Rucker and Margaret (Buddy) Brown; sisters-in-law, Cindy Eanes and Daphine Sowers; brothers-in- law, Doug (Joyce) Sweeney, Barry (Judy) Sweeney and Bruce (Beulah) Sweeney; and numerous nieces; and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at Lotz Funeral Home in Vinton. A celebration of life will be conducted at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 23, 2016, at Lotz Vinton Chapel with Doug Sweeney and David Workman officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, Vinton, Virginia. on June 22, 2016.³

     William Earl Conner was buried at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, 5737 Airport Road NW, Roanoke, Virginia.^3,11 He was born on March 26, 1944 at Montgomery Co., Virginia.^1,2,5,11 He married Carylin Sue Slusher, daughter of Thurman Clinton "Jack" Slusher and Lula Edwards, on July 17, 1965 at Floyd Co., Virginia.^1,12,4 William Earl Conner died on March 6, 2021 at Roanoke, Virginia, at age 76.^3,11 He William Earl Conner, 76, of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Saturday, March 6, 2021. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Willie Sisson Conner and John Cledys Conner; brother, Kenneth Conner; sister, Frances Conner; and special cousin, Doris Conner. Earl is survived by his wife Carylin; his son, Ricky; Ricky's stepson, Tyler; sister-in-law, Barbara Conner; brothers-in-law, Jerry and Leon Slusher; and many special nieces and nephews. He was a wonderful loving husband to Carylin for 55 years. Earl never met a stranger and was always laughing and joking with everyone he met. His friends and family would say he was a very kind and caring person. He will truly be missed by all. A graveside service with family and close friends will be held at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Roanoke. on March 9, 2021.³

     Shirley Ann Poole Shirley Poole Sweeney, 78, of Roanoke, passed away, Monday, May 4, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband Max Sweeney. She was born in 1936 to the late Dwight and Mildred Ferguson Poole. Shirley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a nurse at Lewis-Gale Hospital and seamstress making many beautiful quilts. She enjoyed traveling, playing scrabble, camping, and traveling with her Shir Shir group. She is survived by her sons, David (Judy), Randy, Darrell; Grandchildren, Rhiannon, Sarah, Mikayla, Aaron, Liam; Great-grandchildren, Maebel, Wyatt; Brother Tommy Poole(Linda); Friends, Marci, Joe, Janie, Bruce and countless more. Special thanks to her best friend for many years, Betsy Davies. It would be impossible to count the number of lives she touched over the course of her life.      Lillie Virginia Custer was buried at Puckett Cemetery, Copper Hill, Floyd Co., Virginia.^5,3,4 She was born on November 8, 1873 at Floyd Co., Virginia.^1,5,3 She married William Riley Conner, son of Daniel R. Conner and Lydia "Liddie" Poff, on March 13, 1890 at Floyd Co., Virginia.^1,3 As of March 13, 1890,her married name was Conner. Lillie Virginia Custer died on March 6, 1955 at Bent Mountain, Roanoke Co., Virginia, at age 81.^5,3,4 She Mrs. Lillie Virginia Connor (should be Conner), 81, died at her home on Bent Mountain yesterday. Surviving are four sons, Ernest V. Connor, Nace; Grover J., Daniel R. and Edward O. Connor, all of Bent Mountain: six daughters, Mrs. Lydia Ann Wimmer, Bent Mountain; Mrs. Minnie J. Mills, Mrs. Myrtle Mallory, Mrs. Cassie Campbell, Dora Hollaway, all of Roanoke, and Mrs. Maude Poff, Copper Hill; two brothers, Harden Custer, Roanoke, and Hosea Custer, Christiansburg; 28 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Puckett Cemetery. on March 7, 1955.⁴

Carylin Sue Slusher died on December 30, 2021 at Roanoke, Virginia, at age 76.^3,8 She Carylin Sue Conner, 76, of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Thursday, December 30, 2021. She was born on Tuesday, April 10, 1945, to the late T.C. "Jack" and Lula E Slusher. She was a very sweet and loving mom to Ricky. She loved all her friends and family very much. She will truly be missed. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, William Earl Conner; two brothers, Clinton, and Wallace Slusher. Carylin is survived by her son, Ricky, and Ricky's stepson, Tyler; sister-in-law, Barbara Conner; brothers, Jerry and Leon Slusher; and many special nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. on January 2, 2022.³
