He is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard & Chloe Peters; son, Roger Peters; brother, Wayne Peters; sister, Peggy Harris; and brother-in-law, Don Fortner. Glenn was a man who never knew a stranger. He loved his family and friends and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Glenn was a lifelong farmer and loved the land and his cows. He was a simple man who enjoyed the simple things in life. He will be remembered as always having a smile on his face. He is survived by his wife 58 years, Nancy Hall Peters; son & daughter-in-law, Larry & Carol Peters; daughter & son-in-law, Carole & Brent Craighead; grandchildren, Becca Peters, Bradley Peters, and Samantha Craighead; sister, Shelby Fortner; and brother-in-law, Leonard Harris. Joan Link died on April 4, 2016 at Virginia at age 82.⁵ She On Monday, April 4, 2016 Joan Link Akers, 82, of Riner went home to Heaven and entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, where she also joined her husband of 59 years, Harless Freeman Akers. She was born on Mattox Mountain in Check, Va. on August 17, 1933 to the late Joseph Conner Link and Rheba Jane (Light) Link. Joan worked at number of jobs during her life, Blue Ridge Overall Factory, Christiansburg Garment Company, Auburn School Cafeteria, Avon Lady, but her greatest life work was being a faithful, loving wife and Godly Christian mother who raised up five children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Joan is survived by five children, Vicki Painter (Buck), Donna Lucas (Danny), Jerry Akers (Lori), Cindy Hart (Tim), and Mark Akers (Alisa Knapp, fiancé). Grandma Akers was blessed with 11 grandchildren, Tonya Phillips, Melanie Bishop, Monica Percival, Justin and Katie Lucas, Zachary, Seth, Caleb, and Hannah Akers, Matthew and Colby Memitt; as well as 14 great grandchildren, Allison Bishop, Riley Phillips, Therron, Elijah, and Ivy Percival, Amelia and Cooper Lucas, Harleigh Mikels, Micah and Raegan Akers, Paisley Cox, Ava Holt, Aubrey Akers, and Sheila Memitt. Also surviving are four brothers, James (Peggy), Danny, Paul, and Allen Link; three sisters, Betty Reynolds, Mary Richardson, Brenda Hungate (Carl); and one foster sister, Joyce Whitaker (Chris). Friends may call at Gardner Funeral Home after 8:30 a.m. Friday, April 8, 2016 where the family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at Gardner Funeral Home in Floyd at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2016 with Pastor Jerry F. Akers (son), and Pastor Ben Whitaker officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery in Christiansburg. on April 7, 2016.⁵

     Donald Lewis "Don" Wimmer was born on September 17, 1943 at Roanoke, Virginia.^3,4,5 He married Sara Virginia Wilmore on August 14, 1965 at Roanoke, Virginia.⁴ Donald Lewis "Don" Wimmer married Ann Hope Sink on November 9, 1996 at Roanoke, Virginia.^4,5 Donald Lewis "Don" Wimmer died on November 24, 2022 at Vero Beach, Indian River Co., Florida, at age 79.⁵ He Donald Lewis Wimmer, 79, of Vero Beach, Fla., passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2022, at his home surrounded by close family and friends. Born on September 17, 1943, Don graduated from Jefferson High School in Roanoke, Va. in 1961. After a successful career as Furniture Manufacturers representative in High Point, N.C., he retired to Vero Beach, Fla. Don is survived by his wife, Hope Sink Wimmer of Vero Beach, Fla; brother, Neil Wimmer (Martha) of Burlington, N.C; and son, Hunter Wimmer (Casie) of Concord, Calif. on December 4, 2022.⁵

     Joyce Wimmer was born on September 30, 1946 at Roanoke, Virginia.³ As of July 3, 1970,her married name was Ross.³ She married Harold Houchins Ross Jr. on July 3, 1970 at Roanoke, Virginia.³ Joyce Wimmer died on December 15, 2020 at Montgomery Co., Virginia, at age 74.³ She Joyce Wimmer Ross, 74, of Christiansburg, passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2020. A loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she left this world peacefully with her husband and two children by her side. Born on September 30, 1946, in Roanoke, she was raised in the area and graduated from Patrick Henry High School in 1964 and then Radford College in 1968. She married Harold Houchins Ross Jr. on July 3, 1970, at a ceremony held at her childhood church, First Christian Church in downtown Roanoke. She taught school for a few years and throughout her life she dedicated herself to her family, her church and several other causes and organizations. She shared her love of cooking and baking with family and friends and self-published two cookbooks. She also enjoyed crafting, crossword puzzles and reading. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Lewis and Helen Hunter Wimmer. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Harold; her children, Alison Ross MacPhail and Mark Stephen Ross and their spouses, Joseph C. MacPhail III and Virginia Katherine Ross; her brothers, Neil Jackson Wimmer and Donald Lewis Wimmer; and her five granddaughters, Elizabeth, Ashleigh and Emily MacPhail, and Katherine Joyce and Evelyn Ross. on December 20, 2020.³
