He was born January 15, 1930 in Russell County, VA. to Vaught Stuart Denny and Martha Ellen Snead Denny. He was a long-time resident of Charlotte and a member of Dilworth United Methodist Church. John moved to Charlotte in January 1955 and worked for Soule Steel for 10 years. He then went into business with his brother doing structural steel detailing for Steel-Fab Southern Steel and others until 1992. He also worked briefly for Duke Power in the 1970's. He retired from Cad Vantage, a company he started in 2006. He served in the Navy aboard the USS Eisenhower from 1948 to 1952. John married Lois Loraine Conner of Shawsville, VA on March 3, 1956. Loraine passed away on August 21, 1990. John was preceded in death by his parents, wife, infant daughter, Mollie Laird Denny, and brother David William Denny. He is survived by his son, Stuart Wayne Denny and wife, Alison Ann Mott Denny of Melbourne, FL; daughter, Denise Glenn Denny McDonald and husband Keith Paul McDonald of Seneca, SC; granddaughters, Jessica Marie Denny and Amanda Nicole Denny of Palm Bay, FL; grandsons, Ryan Paul McDonald and Conner Thomas McDonald of Seneca, SC; sister, Karen Warner Denny of Roanoke, VA; brothers, Garland Bram Denny and wife Margaret Anne of Monroe, NC; Charles Edward Denny and wife Sandy of Salem, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews and good friends. Johnny enjoyed NC State ball games, NASCAR races and Final Four Basketball games with his family and friends. He was a longtime member of the Oasis Shriners and Wagoneers. He was also a member of the East Gate Lodge. Burial to follow at Sharon Memorial Park Mausoleum. on February 28, 2007.3

An Eastern Star Memorial Service will be conducted by McDaniel Chapter #47, OES at 8 p.m. Friday in the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral will be 3 p.m. Saturday from the Richardson-Horne Chapel conducted by the Rev. Richard H. Horne. McDaniel Lodge #86 will hold Masonic Rites in the chapel immediately following the service. Burial will then follow in Sunset Cemetery. The family requests flowers be omitted and memorials be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Crippled Children, c/o Kazim Temple, 628 W. Campbell Ave., Roanoke, Va. 24016 or to the Christiansburg Rescue Squad, Box 176, Christiansburg, Va. 24073. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and the family will receive friends there from 7 to 9 Friday evening. Arrangements are being handled by Richardson-Horne. on October 15, 1993.2

Born in Mercer County on May 28, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Ray and Belle Calfee Richards. Mrs. Allen was a retired employee of the Beckley VA Medical Center as an R.N. with 40 years of service. She was a graduate of the Raleigh General Hospital Nursing Program in 1947, and was a former member of the American Nursing Association, the WV Nursing Association, was an active member and past president for several terms of the Raleigh General Hospital Nurses Alumni. She was active in the NARF Association, and was a member of the Beckley Regular Baptist Church, where she served as an AWANA leader and was a member of the church choir. Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her husband, Coe Allen; and by brothers, Ray and Frank Richards. She is survived by sons, Jimmie Allen and wife, Cathy, of Asheville, N.C., David Allen and wife, Valorie, of Beckley; a daughter, Jeanne Nagye and husband, Elmer, of Piney View; a brother, Joe Richards of Princeton; two sisters, Nancy Anthony of Princeton, and Helen Testino of High Point, N.C; seven grandchildren, Phillip, Joshua, Jeremy and Chris Allen, Jennifer Brown, Jeb Nagye and Sarah Angus; and four great-grandchildren, Amber Brown, Grant, Nathan and Andrew Allen. Beulah loved God, family and nursing. She always had a smile and a kind word for everyone. We will miss you, but see you again. She was a true witness for her love of God and belief in prayer. Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Beckley Regular Baptist Church with Pastor Jason Naff officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
