     Jean Lee Brizendine Jean Brizendine Helems, 85, of New Castle passed peacefully in her sleep on Monday, October 22, 2012. She was born September 22, 1927 in Craig County. She was the daughter of the late Oney and Lizzie Brizendine. She was preceded in death by her husband Hale "Minnie" Helems and her brother Claude. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Susie and Billy Lee; son and daughter-in-law Eddie and Susan Helems; grandchildren Jamie and Melissa Lee, Amy and Dewey Taylor, Adrian and Hank Luton, Alex Helems & Rachel Meagher; great-grandchildren Jefferson Lee, Hannah Taylor, Bryson Taylor, and Hudson Luton; sister Mildred Humphreys of Pomeroy, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jean was an active member of the New Castle Christian Church her entire life. Jean was a kind, gentle, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her love and dedication to her family will be forever cherished and her memory will be held dear. Graveside Services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at Westview Cemetery with Dr. Ernie Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at Paitsel Funeral Home. He loved and is loved by his family more than any human could imagine. Next to his family, his joy and passion was his farm, land, and cattle. He was a World War II veteran having served in the Army Air Corp as an airplane mechanic. His earthly journey ended October 14, 2015 when God came and took him home. Left to cherish his memory are his wife and best friend for more than 64 years, Jaqueline Poff Blackwell; and daughters, Carolyn (and Doug) Sneed, Annette Blackwell, and Yvonne Blackwell; and grandson, Dan DeMartin (and Edina). He is also survived by several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the Carilion Hospice staff and his caregiver, Sandra Hartman. Interment followed in Restvale Cemetery (Head-of-the-River), Check, Va. on October 22, 2015.5

She was born on December 21st 1928 in Wytheville, Virginia where she grew up and attended school. Louise and her husband John raised their children and lived most of their adult life in Savannah and Warner Robins Georgia where she was known for one of the most beautiful doll collections in the area.
