     Dale Hamilton Whittaker was buried at Stinson Cemetery, White Gate, Giles Co., Virginia.^1,5 He was born on October 31, 1936 at White Gate, Giles Co., Virginia.^1,3,5 He married Virginia Carol Conner, daughter of Oliver Noel "Ollie" Conner and Mary Hazel Boone, on March 31, 1961 at Floyd Co., Virginia.^7,8,2,5,6 Dale Hamilton Whittaker died on June 21, 2009 at White Gate, Giles Co., Virginia, at age 72.^1,4,5 He Dale Hamilton Whittaker, 72, of the White Gate Community Pearisburg, Giles County, Va., departed this life on earth for Heaven on Sunday afternoon, June 21, 2009, at the family home. Dale was born in the same home on October 31, 1936, at White Gate to the late John Marvin and Nellie Hamilton Whittaker. Dale was a member of the Mount Zion United Methodist Church, a loving husband, father, and grandfather; as well as a dedicated Christian man who never met a stranger. Dale served in the United States Air Force; was employed by Western Union, Burlington Industries; and retired from the Bland Correctional Center, where he was a licensed water treatment plant operator. Dale was also the fourth generation of his family to continue the family farm operation along the banks of Big Walker Creek. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Carl Allen (Cap) Whittaker, also of White Gate. He is survived by his wife of over 48 years, Virginia Carol Whittaker; one daughter, Rhonda Dale Gusler and her husband, Mark, of White Gate; two sons, Jeffrey Marvin Whittaker and his wife, Regina, of Goodview, Va., and Craig Hamilton Whittaker and his wife, Clara, of White Gate; one sister, Josephine (Sis) Waller, of Richfield, N.C; along with 11 grandchildren, Andrew and Molly Gusler, Todd, Maegan, Chana, Rachel, Grace, John, Susanne, Amelia, and Luke Whittaker; several nieces, nephews and cousins; his church family at Mount Zion; and his big black lab, "Bear." Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home, White Gate, with the Rev. Danny Shortridge officiating. Burial will be held in the Stinson Cemetery, White Gate. The visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at the funeral home after 2 p.m. and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mount Zion United Methodist, 236 White Pine Road, Pearisburg, Va. 24134.

     Freeman Maurice Slusher Jr. was born on October 16, 1951 at Roanoke Co., Virginia.^1,3 He married Donna Elanie Whitlock, daughter of Donald McLane Whitlock and Priscilla Ellen Miller, on May 3, 1980 at Floyd Co., Virginia.^1,4,2 Freeman Maurice Slusher Jr. died on October 16, 2018 at Virginia at age 67.² He Freeman Maurice (F.M.) Slusher, Jr., passed away on October 16, 2018, at his home. F.M. was predeceased by his parents, Freeman Maurice and Ruth Gardner Slusher. He was the youngest of 50 grandchildren of George William and Clemmie Corn Slusher. He is survived by his wife, Donna Whitlock Slusher; sons Joey, of Christiansburg, Va., and Logan and his wife, Chelsea, of Winchester, Va; grandchildren, Austin, Caleb and Kinley; sisters, Nancy Hanley, of Wilmington, Del., and Janet Keith, of Willis, Va; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Donald McLane "Mac" and Priscilla Whitlock, of Floyd, Va; sisters-in-law, Shari Radford, of Floyd, and Anita and husband, Ashley Wimmer, of Rocky Mount, Va; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A lifelong farmer, F.M. took great pride in his cattle and in doing quality farm work, not only for himself, but also for friends and neighbors. Even as his physical pain limited his activity, he enjoyed being out on his tractor or in his pickup truck. F.M. enjoyed sharing a laugh with all whom he knew; he always had a ready joke or story to tell. Interment will follow in the Jacksonville Burial Ground. on October 20, 2018.²

Davis, Thomas "Blacks" Davis, John W. Davis, and Harry Davis; two sisters, Ruby Wolfe, and Charlotte Hubbard; also numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 12, 2000 at the Paitsel Funeral Home Chapel, New Castle, with Jim Morris officiating. Interment will follow in the Elmore Family Cemetery, where military rites will be given. Mr. Davis served 9 1/2 years with the 1st Infantry Division during World War II. Family will received friends 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Funeral Home. on January 11, 2000.¹

     Julia Victoria Thomas was buried at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, 5070 Cove Road N. W., Roanoke, Virginia.¹ She was born on July 21, 1927 at Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia.^1,2 She married James Warren Conner, son of Willard Austin Conner and Roxie Ann Evelyn Conner, on June 5, 1946 at Roanoke Co., Virginia.^3,4,1,2 As of June 5, 1946,her married name was Conner. Julia Victoria Thomas died on November 1, 2011 at Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia, at age 84.¹ She Julia T. Conner, 84, of Roanoke, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 1, 2011, after a long illness, at Snyder Nursing Home. She was born on July 21, 1927, to the late James B. and Emma Wright Thomas. She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Conner; brothers, James Irwin Thomas, Lewis E. Thomas, Raymond C. Thomas, Herbert A. Thomas, Emett J. Thomas and Roy M. Thomas; sister, Ella Mae Ribble; brothers- in-law, Perry Conner and Ralph Richardson; and sister-in-law, Beulah Mae Richardson. Julia is survived by sons, Robert W. Conner and wife, Brenda, and James W. Conner and wife, Susie; brother-in-law, G.W. Conner and wife, Mary Ann; brother- in-law, Jim Ribble; and sisters- in-law, Betty Thomas, and Clara Mae Conner. Julia was a lifelong member of Peters Creek Church of the Brethren. She enjoyed receiving visits from family members and she especially looked forward to visits from her relatives in Tennessee. Interment will follow at Cedar Lawn Cemetery. on November 3, 2011.¹
